Job summary

Varonis is seeking a highly skilled Detection Engineer to join our elite team. You will research emerging threats, design and develop detection logic, and continuously improve security analytics that protect organizations worldwide.

This is a 100% remote position. You will transform threat research, incidents, and customer feedback into scalable detections using our platform, collaborating with Forensics, Product Management, Engineering, and MDR teams to close coverage gaps and enhance detection

Qualifications

• 4+ years in Detection Eng, Threat Hunting, Incident Response, Security Research, DFIR, or MDR
• Experience analyzing large-scale datasets and building data-driven solutions using Python, SQL, Spark, PySpark or similar
• Translate attacker techniques, security research, and incidents into scalable detection logic
• Strong understanding of modern attack methodologies
• Analytical and investigative skills to resolve security problems
• Excellent communication and collaboration across Engineering, Product Management, MDR, Forensics, and Support teams
• Demonstrated ownership mindset and ability to lead initiatives end-to-end
• Balance research, execution, and long-term strategic work in a fast-paced environment
• Passion for continuous learning and attacker behavior insights

Responsibilities

• Research emerging threats and translate them into scalable detection capabilities and analytics
• Investigate detection gaps and incidents to improve coverage, accuracy, and outcomes
• Leverage telemetry and security signals across cloud, identity, SaaS, and data security environments
• Evaluate and improve detection quality by reducing false positives and increasing fidelity
• Contribute to strategic detection initiatives including advanced threat analytics and behavior analytics
• Communicate technical findings and detection logic to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Stay current with emerging attack techniques, threat intelligence, and industry best practices
