Umicore Battery Materials in Nysa, Poland, seeks a Quality Engineer - QMS to maintain and improve the Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949. You will coordinate audits, manage nonconformities, and drive continuous improvement across functions.

You will lead documentation efforts, KPI analysis, and training to ensure compliance and customer satisfaction, with strong emphasis on audit readiness and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree required in a technical field.
  • Minimum 7 years in Quality Management, automotive preferred, with at least 5 years in similar role.
  • Solid knowledge of QMS ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
  • Certified IATF 16949 Internal Auditor and VDA 6.3 Auditor.
  • Strong knowledge of PPAP, MSA, SPC, 8D, FMEA.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining documentation.
  • Proven experience coordinating audits and driving improvements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder skills.
  • Fluent in English; MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, maintain, and improve QMS per ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
  • Plan, coordinate, and represent during audits and customer inspections.
  • Manage audit nonconformities and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare documentation for audits and management reviews.
  • Coordinate Annual Management Reviews and mentor Internal Auditors.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report Quality KPIs.
  • Oversee Internal Audits and Layered Process Audits for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and supervise QMS documentation and processes.
  • Ensure policies meet customer requirements and objectives.
  • Promote quality awareness and customer-specific requirements.
  • Deliver training and prepare materials for compliance.
  • Lead cost-saving and process optimization initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support objectives.
  • Participate in Safety, Environmental, and Energy management systems.

Your Key Accountabilities
  • Coordinate, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, and represent the organization during certification, surveillance, and customer audits.
  • Manage audit nonconformities and ensure effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation required for internal and external audits.
  • Coordinate and prepare Annual Management Reviews.
  • Evaluate and support the development of Internal Auditors.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report Quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Oversee Internal Audits and Layered Process Audits, driving continuous improvement initiatives based on audit results.
  • Develop, update, and supervise Quality Management System and process documentation.
  • Ensure quality policies, procedures, and standards meet customer requirements and organizational objectives.
  • Coordinate the Internal Document Management System and ensure document compliance across the organization.
  • Promote quality awareness and customer-specific requirements throughout the company.
  • Deliver quality-related training and prepare training materials to support employee development and compliance.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of quality standards and ensure their consistent application across all departments.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and lead initiatives aimed at process optimization and operational excellence.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and cost-saving projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business objectives and customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Energy Management Systems in line with assigned roles and responsibilities.
Who we are looking for
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in Engineering, Chemistry, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in Quality Management, preferably within the automotive industry, including at least 5 years in a similar role.
  • Solid knowledge of Quality Management Systems, particularly ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Certified IATF 16949 Internal Auditor and VDA 6.3 Auditor.
  • Very good knowledge of quality tools and methodologies, including PPAP, MSA, SPC, 8D, and FMEA.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining system and process documentation.
  • Proven experience in coordinating audits, managing corrective actions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify improvement opportunities and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to define business objectives and effectively translate them into actions and results.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, combined with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
  • Very good command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Valid Category B driving licence.
