Job summary

Charles River Development, the FinTech arm of State Street, seeks a QA Automation Engineer to design scalable automated test frameworks and regression suites. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers and analysts to expand automation coverage and support CI/CD pipelines in a hybrid work model requiring three days in the office.

The role requires 2+ years in software testing, proficiency in Java/C#/JavaScript/Python, and solid experience with frontend tools

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of software testing experience in a process-driven tech environment.
• Proficiency in at least one OO language (Java, C#, JavaScript or Python).
• Experience with frontend testing tools (Playwright, Selenium, Cypress) and backend testing (REST APIs, HTTP, SOAP).
• Strong SQL skills and ability to query databases.

Working within a Scrum team, you will collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and business analysts to build scalable automation solutions that support rapid and reliable software delivery. You will design and implement automated test frameworks, expand test coverage across the platform, and contribute to continuous integration and delivery pipelines. In addition to building automation, you will help drive quality best practices and improve the testing infrastructure used across teams.This is a hybrid role which requires at least 3 days of work from the office per week.Responsibilities:Design and develop scalable automated test frameworks and regression suitesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality feature deliveryExpand automation coverage across functional, integration, and system testingSupport CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practicesIdentify quality risks early and drive continuous improvement in testing processesContribute to shared automation libraries and testing infrastructureAdvocate for quality engineering best practices across the development lifecycleRequired qualifications:Minimum 2+ years of experience in software testing within a process-driven technology environment.Good programming skills in at least one modern object-oriented programming language such as Java, C#, JavaScript, or Python.Knowledge about frontend testing using industry-standard tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress or similar frameworks.Knowledge about backend testing including REST APIs, HTTP, and SOAP services.Good understanding of databases with practical SQL experience.Good written and verbal communication skills, with a strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.Willingness to learn and develop in the testing areaNice to Have:Proven ability to translate business requirements into comprehensive functional and technical test plans.Experience designing and implementing automation tests for web application/ desktop applicationsHands-on experience developing and executing automation test scripts across web, desktop/native applications, APIs, and batch processes.Experience creating and maintaining test cases, scripts, and automated testing tools to validate requirements across multi-tier applications.Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter, k6, Gatling, or similar.Experience maintaining manual and automated test libraries covering functional, integration, regression, and performance testing.Familiarity with shell scripting languages such as PowerShell or BashEducation:B.S. degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics or other technical course of study or Business with an MIS background. MS degree strongly preferred.Minimum Salary:The minimum salary quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified.
