Job summary

Cavendish (Recruitment) Professionals Ltd seeks a tester who can combine manual and automated testing with automation as the main priority. You will implement API tests using Postman collections and run them in the CI/CD pipeline, while exploring future consolidation of UI and API tests under a single framework.

The role requires hands-on Cypress or Playwright experience, plus a track record of building test automation frameworks from scratch.

Job description

• Build functionality allowing journalists to report their effort and get paid accordingly, replacing an outdated legacy solution.
• Migrate the current user portal from Azure/AWS Lambda/Amazon SQS to MARS.
• Backend and Lambda functions are written in Java; frontend is built with JS + React.

Role Overview

• Combined manual and automated testing role, with automation as the main priority.
• API tests are written as Postman collections and executed via Newman in the CI/CD pipeline.
• A possible future improvement: consolidating UI and API tests into a single automation framework.

Documentation Context

• No functional documentation exists for the current application.
• No test documentation or test cases currently exist.
• Available references are limited to code-generated documentation, Jira ticket descriptions, and occasional Confluence pages for large Epics.

Required Skills & Experience

• Comfortable working across both manual and automated testing.
• Hands‑on experience with Cypress or Playwright (or similar JS‑based automation frameworks).
• Experience working with Postman for API testing.
• Proven experience building test automation frameworks from scratch.
• Strong presentation skills — able to explain and justify automation framework design decisions to stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AWS infrastructure.
• Experience with BDD (Behavior‑Driven Development), particularly writing acceptance criteria in tickets.
