Our client is one of the leaders in platform production and engineering for strategic sectors. Currently we are looking for an experienced Production Manager to join their team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overall management and ownership of the final integration of our UAV platforms for European production, covering existing platforms, new variants, and new product development
- Lead the end-to-end production integration process, ensuring individual integration activities are coordinated into a complete, controlled, and repeatable aircraft build and acceptance process
- Act as the key cross-functional interface between design & engineering, supply chain, logistics, quality, programme management, production teams, and external integration partners
- Ensure dependencies, priorities, material availability, engineering information, and production requirements are aligned to support smooth programme delivery
- Identify integration and production risks early, drive clear ownership of actions, and coordinate mitigation across relevant teams
- Drive standardisation of integration processes, tooling, documentation, and production controls as European manufacturing scales
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the full UAV integration process and the rationale for key design and production decisions
- Own the overall integration plan from receipt of components and subassemblies through final assembly, commissioning, factory acceptance, and production release
- Coordinate and oversee integration activities across mechanical systems, including airframe, propulsion and fuel systems, and electrical systems including avionics, wiring, payloads, and mission equipment
- Provide technical leadership and escalation support to integration engineers and production teams, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and do not become blockers to delivery
- Ensure integration activities remain aligned with approved design configuration, build standards, and programme requirements
- Act as the “glue” between supply chain, design & engineering, logistics, quality, programme management, and production teams to ensure smooth running of European UAV production
- Coordinate cross-functional readiness for each build, ensuring components, engineering data, tooling, resources, facilities, and documentation are available when required
- Work closely with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure continuity and timely delivery of components, subassemblies, and equipment to integration facilities
- Work with design & engineering teams to resolve technical queries, production constraints, configuration changes, and integration issues
- Provide clear communication, prioritisation, and escalation of issues that could impact build schedule, quality, cost, or aircraft readiness
- Maintain visibility of integration status, blockers, dependencies, and actions and communicate these clearly to programme and operational stakeholders
Documentation, Configuration & Knowledge Management
- Own the completeness and readiness of final production integration documentation for European UAV builds
- Responsible for management and coordination of integration documentation including assembly instructions, checklists, quality control records, wiring diagrams, BOMs, drawings, test records, production procedures, training materials, and tooling requirements
- Ensure documentation accurately reflects the approved aircraft configuration and is available to production and integration teams at the point of use
- Ensure traceability of integration activities, build records, deviations, concessions, configuration changes, and final acceptance evidence
- Drive capture and transfer of UAV integration knowledge from design engineers, external stakeholders, and experienced integration personnel into controlled company systems
- Coordinate closure of documentation gaps prior to aircraft completion and final production release
Team & Integration Partner Management
- Provide day-to-day leadership, coordination, and prioritisation for integration engineers supporting European production
- Coordinate the activities of internal teams and external subcontract integration partners through introduction, ramp-up, and ongoing production
- Ensure integration partners and production teams follow internal quality standards, safety procedures, engineering requirements, and approved production processes
- Support training and knowledge transfer for technicians, integration engineers, and production staff to build scalable local capability
- Promote clear accountability, disciplined issue management, and effective communication across distributed teams and locations
BOM, Supply Chain & Logistics Support
- Work closely with supply chain to ensure BOM requirements, component availability, alternates, shortages, and delivery priorities are aligned with the production integration plan
- Coordinate with engineering and supply chain teams when alternate components or suppliers are proposed, ensuring integration and configuration impacts are understood before implementation
- Support creation and management of updated BOMs for new variants and production configurations
- Work with logistics teams to coordinate movement of aircraft, subassemblies, tooling, equipment, and materials between European production and integration locations
- Escalate material, supplier, or logistics constraints that threaten production continuity and coordinate recovery plans with relevant owners
- Own coordination of final commissioning, factory acceptance testing, and production readiness activities for completed UAVs
- Develop, maintain, and manage detailed commissioning and factory acceptance test protocols in conjunction with engineering and quality teams
- Ensure technical issues identified during integration and testing are appropriately investigated, documented, resolved, and closed before aircraft release
- Coordinate ground testing, system verification, and readiness activities prior to flight testing, demonstrations, customer acceptance, or deployment
- Ensure each aircraft has the required build, test, configuration, and acceptance documentation prior to final handover
Continuous Improvement, Quality & Production Scalability
- Drive the transition from engineering-led and prototype builds toward repeatable, controlled, and scalable European production processes
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring integration and production issues, coordinating engineering, supply chain, quality, and production inputs as required
- Identify opportunities to improve build efficiency, manufacturability, maintainability, reliability, and overall product quality
- Drive standardisation of build sequences, work instructions, tooling, inspection points, test processes, and production controls
- Support implementation of structured production and integration KPIs, readiness reviews, and governance processes
- Ensure lessons learned from each build are captured and incorporated into subsequent aircraft and production processes
