Job summary

Visa seeks a senior privacy lawyer to act as a subject-matter expert on privacy across Visa’s products and services. The role involves advising on GDPR, data protection, cyber and AI laws in Europe, and drafting privacy-related contracts.

You will collaborate with internal teams and external counsel, manage data subject rights requests, and help advance Visa's Global Privacy Program with a keen eye for regulatory changes.

Qualifications

• At least a few years of PQE in privacy law or related field.
• Strong drafting and negotiating skills for privacy contracts and policies.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as a subject-matter expert on privacy in the context of Visa’s products and services.
• Provide legal advice on European privacy, data protection, cyber and AI laws including GDPR.
• Provide legal guidance on privacy impact assessments.
• Assist with data subject rights requests.
• Stay updated on emerging privacy, cyber and AI laws and trends.
• Build relationships with key business partners, working closely with them to meet their business needs in terms of privacy legal support in an efficient way.
• Assist in the development of privacy policies, procedures, and training programs.
• Draft and negotiate privacy-related contracts and agreements.
• Actively look for opportunities to streamline and improve the delivery of privacy legal support, regulatory change management and knowledge sharing.
• Play an active part in contributing to the development of the Global Privacy Program.
• Issue spot and identify privacy, data, AI and cyber issues and liaise, when necessary, with internal members of the broader Legal, Ethics and Compliance Division, Government Engagement teams and/or external counsel.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer in England and Wales with several years of PQE experience. We will consider candidates who have qualified in other jurisdictions.
• Previous substantial and demonstrable privacy subject-matter expert experience.
• Strong academics and training including legal drafting and negotiating, and relationship management.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills along with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrable analytical capabilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as on own initiative.
• Ability to prioritise and manage a varied and busy workload.
• Positive attitude, high level of integrity and intellectual curiosity with a passion for novel and complex privacy, data, cyber and AI issues.
• Fluent in English.
