Job summary

Verisk is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to shape the architecture and delivery of an AWS-native platform powering underwriting intelligence and GenAI-driven analysis. You will work with Python, .NET, PostgreSQL/Aurora, OpenSearch, and LangGraph-based services to own technical direction, quality, and scalability.

This senior IC role includes mentoring engineers, setting engineering standards, and coordinating across product and platform teams in a hybrid Kraków-based environment.

Qualifications

• Advanced experience with .NET/C# including production services and APIs (REST/GraphQL).
• Strong architecture and system design skills, with experience in trade-off analysis.
• Hands-on AWS experience (S3, Batch, Lambda, RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL, EKS, CloudWatch).
• Strong SQL/PostgreSQL skills, including schema design and query optimization.
• Experience designing distributed, scalable, fault-tolerant systems with observability and rollback strategies.
• Proven technical leadership: mentoring engineers, leading design reviews and RFCs, cross-team coordination.

Responsibilities

• Shape platform architecture across ingestion, transformation, storage, APIs, and AI-powered services.
• Own end-to-end technical delivery of AWS Batch content pipelines, Lambda workflows, and .NET 8 REST/GraphQL APIs.
• Drive architecture decisions around Aurora PostgreSQL, graph-data models, and OpenSearch for GenAI workloads.
• Define and champion standards for engineering, data quality, testing, and observability (Pentaho, ThoughtSpot, CloudWatch, Splunk).
• Partner with ML and Product Engineering teams to ensure reliable LangGraph-based RAG pipelines and data layers.
• Shape LLM evaluation and prompt pipelines, including ground-truth and synthetic data for testing and model quality.
• Review AI-assisted engineering output for production deployment with senior technical judgment.
• Lead architecture discussions via briefs, RFCs, and design reviews with documented trade-offs.
• Define testing, rollout, monitoring, and rollback strategies for critical changes.
• Lead production incident reviews and postmortems to improve reliability and resilience.
• Establish and evolve engineering standards, reinforced through code reviews and practical examples.
• Mentor engineers on software architecture, data engineering, patterns, and responsible AI development.
• Coordinate dependencies across product squads for clear interfaces and smooth delivery.
• Communicate decisions, risks, dependencies, and delivery impacts clearly to stakeholders.
