Job summary

ABC Fitness is modernizing critical software systems and seeks a Principal Engineer to lead architecture and hands-on modernization. This role will shape target architecture, module boundaries, and migration paths while staying close to implementation in Java/Springboot, Golang, Node/TypeScript.

You will drive reliability, performance, and testing, translating business needs into durable software and collaborating with product, security, and data teams.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience designing, building, operating, and evolving production backend systems, services, APIs, and distributed applications.
• Hands-on ability to translate architecture into code and production outcomes.
• Experience with Java/Springboot, Golang, or Node/TypeScript in real-world systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead software architecture and modernization of legacy applications into domain-oriented software.
• Contribute to critical implementations, prototypes, and production fixes in backend ecosystems.
• Define service boundaries, domain ownership, and API contracts for scalable systems.
• Improve data access patterns, reliability, and performance across services.
• Drive testing, code quality, and refactoring to reduce risk and increase maintainability.
