Hitachi Energy is seeking a Principal Embedded C/C++ Engineer to design, develop, and optimize software for constrained embedded systems. The role blends deep C/C++ expertise with hardware understanding and real-time constraints.

You will work on firmware for microcontrollers and embedded Linux or RTOS platforms, perform low-level debugging, and collaborate with hardware teams to ensure system integration and reliability.

Qualifications

• Solid background in embedded systems, microcontrollers, memory models and low-level concepts.
• Demonstrated 10+ years of professional embedded software experience.
• Experience with OpenWRT and RTOS/bare-metal environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain embedded software using modern C/C++.
• Develop firmware for microcontrollers, embedded Linux systems, or RTOS platforms.
• Debug using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD tools, and software debuggers.
• Write robust, maintainable code following standards.
• Integrate with RTOS or bare-metal environments.

The Opportunity

Principal Embedded C/C++ Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing software that runs on embedded systems with constrained resources such as microcontrollers, real-time processors, and custom hardware platforms. The role combines strong C/C++ expertise with deep understanding of hardware, real-time constraints, low-level debugging, and system integration.

How You’ll Make Impact

• Design, implement, and maintain embedded software using modern C/C++
• Develop firmware for microcontrollers, embedded Linux systems, or RTOS-based platforms.
• Perform debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD tools, and software debuggers
• Write robust, maintainable, and testable code following best practices and coding standards.
• Integrate with real-time operating systems or bare-metal environments.
• Work closely with hardware engineers to understand schematics, interfaces, and constraints.

Your background

• Solid understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, memory models, and low-level programming concepts

demonstrated through at least 10 years of professional experience in embedded software development.

• Experience with openWRT
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
• Strong debugging skills across hardware and software layers.
• Knowledge of build systems and toolchains
• Ownership mentality and focus on quality and reliability.
• Scripting knowledge (Python, Bash)
