Job description

Below are the primary duties and essential functions of an employee in this position. While not all tasks may be performed by every employee in this role, all employees are expected to perform related tasks as needed. These essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Collect, record, and maintain accurate patient information and medical histories.
  • Prescribe or administer treatment, medical therapy, medications, vaccinations, and other specialized care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests; analyze records, reports, and examination findings to diagnose conditions.
  • Monitor patient conditions and progress; reevaluate treatments as necessary.
  • Explain procedures, test results, and treatment plans to patients and their families.
  • Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners as needed.
  • Provide preventive care, chronic disease management, and acute care services.
  • Perform minor procedures and respond to urgent medical needs.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Other clinical duties as assigned.
Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Attend and contribute to monthly medical staff meetings.
  • Complete peer reviews for Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs).
  • Respond to documentation requests from third-party payers in a timely manner.
  • Supervise assigned NPs, PAs, and Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs).
  • Maintain CEUs required for continued medical licensure in Indiana.
  • Maintain a valid DEA license.
  • Ensure credentialing with all applicable managed care contracts by completing necessary paperwork promptly.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and compliance activities.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Med-Peds.
  • Certificate or Professional License:
    • Current Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or Pediatrics, or eligible to be Board certified
    • Prescriptive Authority in Indiana (DEA License)
    • Active, unrestricted medical license in the state of Indiana.
