Job summary

Wipro IT Services Poland in Gdansk is seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator to manage mission‑critical databases in a hybrid work environment with on‑call rotations. You will implement replication, high availability, backups, and performance tuning for production systems.

Responsibilities include configuring, deploying and upgrading PostgreSQL across Linux/Windows, developing automation scripts, and guiding integration and testing of new databases. On‑call support is expected.

Qualifications

• Strong experience as DBA / PostgreSQL Database Administrator.
• Experience in monitoring, managing and maintaining mission-critical 24x7 databases.
• Good understanding of PostgreSQL Architecture.
• Experience with Installation/Configuration/Administration PostgreSQL on Linux/Windows.
• Experience with implementing high-availability solutions.
• Experience in Installation /configuration of Replication, Connection pooling etc.
• Expert in Backup & Recovery including PG dump, setting up WAL archiving.
• Experience on PostgreSQL minor/major version upgrade.

Responsibilities

• Implement replication using streaming, cascading, and logical methods.
• Design HA solutions for PostgreSQL using EFM and load balancers.
• Manage backups and recovery, including PITR.
• Configure connection pooling tools and audit databases.
• Perform regular maintenance: vacuum, reindexing, archiving.
• Use tools like Pgbadger, Slony, pgAdmin, Pgpool, Pgbouncer.
• Manage clusters and upgrade/migrate PostgreSQL versions.
• Performance tuning and database automation scripts.
• Provide guidance for integration, testing, design, development of new systems.
• Improve DBA policies, procedures and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Understanding operational requirements including Hardware, Architecture, configuration, Integration and maintaining mission critical production PostgreSQL databases.
• Replication using various methods like streaming, cascading and logical.
• HA solution of EDB PostgreSQL using EFM and Load balancer.
• Responsible for all Logical and Physical backup & Recovery even PITR recovery.
• Connection Pooling tools and Auditing of database.
• Regular maintenance of databases (eg. Vacuum, Reindexing, Archiving).
• Experience on community-supported tools like Pgbadger, Slony, PGadmin,Pgpool, Pgbouncer.
• Managing Clusters and upgrading/migrating various PostgreSQL database versions.
• Performance tuning.
• Developing database automation scripts and maintenance.
• Provide technical guidance for integration, testing, design, development, planning of new production systems/databases.
• Contribute to improving and creating DBA policies, procedures and standards.͏

Required Skills:

• Strong experience as DBA / PostgreSQL Database Administrator
