Job summary

Wipro Technologies in Gdańsk is seeking a seasoned PostgreSQL Database Administrator to manage and optimize mission critical PostgreSQL databases in a hybrid environment. You will ensure high availability, perform installations, configurations, upgrades, and maintenance across Linux/Windows platforms.

The role requires strong experience with replication, backups (PG_dump/WAL), and performance tuning, plus familiarity with community tools like Slony and PgAdmin.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of PostgreSQL database administration experience.
• Experience with 24/7 mission critical databases.
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture.
• Experience with installation/configuration/administration of PostgreSQL on Linux/Windows.
• Experience with high-availability solutions.
• Experience in replication and connection pooling setup.
• Backup & recovery including PG_dump and WAL archiving.
• Experience upgrading PostgreSQL versions (minor/major).

Responsibilities

• Understand operational requirements including hardware, architecture, configuration, integration and maintain mission critical production PostgreSQL databases.
• Implement replication using streaming, cascading and logical methods.
• Develop HA solutions for EDB PostgreSQL using EFM and Load balancer.
• Handle all logical and physical backup & recovery including PITR.
• Configure connection pooling tools and audit databases.
• Perform regular maintenance (vacuum, reindexing, archiving).
• Utilize tools like Pgbadger, Slony, pgAdmin, Pgpool, Pgbouncer.
• Manage clusters and upgrade/migrate PostgreSQL versions.
• Conduct performance tuning and optimization.
• Develop automation scripts for maintenance tasks.
• Provide technical guidance for integration, testing, design and planning of new production systems/databases.
• Contribute to DBA policies, procedures and standards.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong experience as DBA / PostgreSQL Database Administrator
• Experience in monitoring, managing and maintaining mission-critical 24*7 mission critical databases.
• Good understanding of PostgreSQL Architecture.
• Experience with Installation/Configuration/Administration PostgreSQL on Linux/Windows machines.
• Experience with implementing high-availability solutions.
• Experience in Installation /configuration of Replication, Connection pooling etc.
• Expert in Backup & Recovery including PG dump, setting up WAL archiving.
• Experience on PostgreSQL minor/major version upgrade.

Nice to have:

• MySQL
