Job summary

Wipro IT Services Poland is seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator to manage mission-critical PostgreSQL databases from Gdańsk. The role covers installation, configuration, administration, replication, and HA solutions in a hybrid environment with 3 office days.

Responsibilities include backups, monitoring, performance tuning, and contributing to DBA policies. Candidates with 5-8 years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Experience as PostgreSQL DBA for mission-critical systems.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture and installations.
• Experience with Linux/Windows PostgreSQL administration.
• Experience implementing high-availability solutions and replication methods.
• Expertise in backup/recovery, including WAL archiving and PITR.

Responsibilities

• Manage and operate production PostgreSQL databases.
• Implement replication, failover, and high-availability strategies.
• Perform regular maintenance (VACUUM, reindexing, archiving).
• Monitor performance and tune queries and configurations.
• Create and maintain DBA policies and automation scripts.

Work Environment

• Hybrid – from Gdańsk, 3 days from the office

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong experience as DBA / PostgreSQL Database Administrator
• Experience in monitoring, managing and maintaining mission-critical 24*7 mission critical databases.
• Good understanding of PostgreSQL Architecture.
• Experience with Installation/Configuration/Administration PostgreSQL on Linux/Windows machines.
• Experience with implementing high-availability solutions.
• Experience in Installation /configuration of Replication, Connection pooling etc.
• Expert in Backup & Recovery including PG dump, setting up WAL archiving.
• Experience on PostgreSQL minor/major version upgrade.

Key Responsibilities

• Understanding operational requirements including Hardware, Architecture, configuration, Integration and maintaining mission critical production PostgreSQL databases.
• Replication using various methods like streaming, cascading and logical.
• HA solution of EDB PostgreSQL using EFM and Load balancer.
• Responsible for all Logical and Physical backup & Recovery even PITR recovery.
• Connection Pooling tools and Auditing of database.
• Regular maintenance of databases (eg. Vacuum, Reindexing, Archiving).
• Experience on community-supported tools like Pgbadger, Slony, PGadmin,Pgpool, Pgbouncer.
• Managing Clusters and upgrading/migrating various PostgreSQL database versions.
Performance tuning.
• Developing database automation scripts and maintenance.
• Provide technical guidance for integration, testing, design, development, planning of new production systems/databases.
• Contribute to improving and creating DBA policies, procedures and standards.
