Job Description
As a Portfolio Accounting Fund Accountant, you will be responsible for the execution of challenging tasks, within the guidelines and procedures provided by HedgeServ and under the supportive supervision and guidance of a Portfolio Accounting Supervisor and Portfolio Accounting Manager, working on a fast‑paced centralized recon team with an emphasis on quality output and efficient processes.
Integral to your role is the reconciliation of cash and position recs, as well as working on ad‑hoc projects and tasks with the aim to make processes as streamlined and efficient as possible. You will be required to perform these core tasks accurately and in a timely and efficient manner. Every Portfolio Accounting Fund Accountant will receive induction training tailored to key topics related to your role. In addition, there will be client‑focused, technical on‑the‑job training, throughout the course of the graduate programme. Fund Accountants are also responsible for assisting in training new members of the team.
Key Accountabilities of the Role
- The preparation of Cash and Positions Reconciliations, ensuring a timely accurate output
- Establish and maintain good relationships with internal service departments and clients
- Converse and liaise with internal services departments to resolve miscellaneous fund issues
- Attend and participate in team meetings
- Escalate issues and aged items to Portfolio Accounting Supervisor and Manager
- Work on ah‑hoc projects and tasks depending on both client structure, client requirements and business needs
- Assist team development by providing guidance, training and mentoring to associates
- Ensure pre‑agreed internal and external deadlines are met consistently
- Ensure that HedgeServ’s client focused ethos is maintained on a daily basis
Pre‑requisite knowledge, skills and experience
- Accounting, Finance or Business Degree
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and well organized
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Ability to be flexible and work effectively both within a team structure and independently
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to positively influence team morale
- Take ownership of designated tasks
- Act as a role model for HedgeServ
