The City of Fort Worth is seeking Police Trainee to join the Police Academy Training program. Trainees earn $5,460 per month while in academy and $6,725 per month ($80,709 annually upon graduation). The process includes exams, physicals, polygraph, interview, medical and background checks, with accommodations available on request.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, 20–50 years old, possess a high school diploma or GED with college credits, and hold a valid driver’s license.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: High school diploma; (or GED Certificate, plus 12 semester hours, with a “C” average, from an accredited college or university).
CITIZENSHIP: Must be a U. S. Citizen at the time of application. (Must be able to read and write the English Language).
AGE: 20 – 50 years of age; (Applicants must be 20 years of age and not be 51 years of age by the last date of their entry-level test)
LICENSE: Must present a valid and current driver’s license and possess an acceptable driving record.
ADDITIONAL EXAM POINTS: Additional points up to a maximum of five (5) cumulative points shall be added to a passing exam score as follows:
SPECIAL NOTE:
To be selected for a Police Academy Training Class, applicants must successfully pass a written or electronic exam, physical assessment tests, a polygraph examination, an interview board, a medical examination, a psychological examination and an extensive background check.
Following the exam, if you receive a passing score, your name will be added to the Police Trainee Program eligibility list and may remain on the list for one year or until the list is exhausted.

Applicants who may need an ADA reasonable accommodation must contact the Human Resources Department by email at HR_FMLA@fortworthtexas.gov with supporting documentation by October 12, 2026, so that the requested accommodation can be evaluated and arrangements can be made. An accommodation may be provided if the request is supported by appropriate documentation, is reasonable, and does not constitute an undue hardship. If the City does not receive notification and appropriate documentation by October 12, 2026, the City may still provide, but is not obligated to provide, reasonable accommodation.
