Job summary

Robertson College seeks a Subject Matter Expert to consult on a new “Culturally Inclusive Pharmacy” course for the Alberta Pharmacy Technician program. The role ensures curriculum accuracy and integrates culturally responsive care with a focus on Indigenous peoples and health equity.

The SME will collaborate with project teams to develop evidence-based content, align learning objectives with pharmacist technician duties, and identify authentic resources that reflect diverse Canadian populations.

Qualifications

• Licensed Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist practicing in Alberta.
• Deep knowledge of culturally responsive care and Indigenous health outcomes.
• Commitment to health equity and reconciliation.
• 2+ years of pharmacy experience; experience with diverse populations preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate health inequities.
• Collaborative mindset to work with project team; meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with Alberta pharmacy technician scope of practice.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and standard document editing tools.
• Adult education experience or certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Curriculum development guidance for course content reflecting historical contexts and social determinants of health.
• Ensure learning objectives align with the pharmacist technician role in reducing health disparities.
• Identify authentic resources, case studies highlighting Indigenous health perspectives and health equity.
• Collaborate with instructional designers to translate cultural concepts into engaging learning activities.
• Review curriculum draft for accuracy, sensitivity, and professional relevance to Alberta standards.
