Job summary

Sherwin-Williams is seeking a Blender I to tint colour paints and lacquers per recipes and production specs. You will mix stains, sample retention, and data recording while minimizing waste and complying with safety rules.

You will maintain equipment and workspace, report faults, and support smooth operations in a manufacturing setting. Driving may be required in some facilities.

Qualifications

• Secondary education is required.
• Prefer candidates pursuing or holding relevant tertiary qualification.
• Clean safety record and ability to follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Tint materials according to recipes and report mistakes.
• Retain samples and document batch data for traceability.
• Maintain tidy workspace and keep equipment clean.
• Monitor and report equipment faults to supervisor or facility manager.
• Comply with safety, waste management, and lab procedures.
• Move raw materials between warehouse and lab as needed.
• May participate in customer deliveries depending on facility.

Job description

The role of the Blender I position is to tint colour paints and lacquers and mix the stains, according to the given recipe, production specifications and schedules. The whole blending process must be done in accordance with minimization of wastes and losses, and Company safety and housekeeping rules.

Responsibilities

• Tints the materials according to the given recipe. Reports mistakes if they occur.
• Retains samples and keeps batch data for future reference.
• Keeps workplace and surrounding areas tidy.
• Keeps all machinery (facility equipment) clean and in working condition. Reports faulty equipment to Blending Supervisor / Facility Manager.
• Maintains safe operating procedures through complete knowledge of safety rules and lab procedures.
• Establishes and maintains effective relationships with those in their line of work.
• Follows all waste management procedures.
• Reworks / adjusts returned materials from customers, under instruction from Blender II or III.
• Operates and maintains the Corob / Dromont tinting machine.
• Movement of raw materials between the warehouse and colour laboratory.
• May be involved in deliveries to the customer (Facility dependent)
• Other tasks as given by Blender II, Blender III, Blending Supervisor or Facility Manager.
  

Qualifications

Formal Education:

Secondary education (required)

Relevant tertiary qualification or studying towards relevant tertiary qualification (preferred)

Technical / Skill Requirements:

Dynamic and results orientated (required)

High level of accuracy (required)

Responsible and autonomous working (required)

Driving license may be required (Facility dependent)
