Job summary

Astreya is seeking a hands-on Network Engineer to join a high-performing infrastructure team responsible for keeping a large-scale, globally distributed network reliable and ready for what’s next.

You’ll engage at the intersection of network operations, infrastructure lifecycle management, lab engineering, and automation, building processes and tooling that make network operations more efficient and repeatable while lowering risk during changes.

We’re looking for a hands‑on Network Engineer to join a high‑performing infrastructure team responsible for keeping a large‑scale, globally distributed network reliable, current, and ready for what’s next.

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of network operations, infrastructure lifecycle management, lab engineering, and automation. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and evolving network platforms, supporting large-scale infrastructure initiatives, validating new technologies, and making network operations more efficient and repeatable.

You won’t simply be monitoring a network—you’ll help build the processes, tooling, and operational discipline that keep a complex network running at scale.

What You’ll Do

Network Lifecycle & Infrastructure Operations

• Support the lifecycle of network infrastructure, including hardware, software, firmware, and platform versions.
• Help plan and execute network lifecycle initiatives across geographically distributed infrastructure.
• Assess infrastructure readiness and identify risks, dependencies, and operational considerations before changes are introduced.
• Participate in maintenance activities, upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure refresh programs.
• Support the continued reliability, consistency, and operational health of the network environment.
• Plan and execute network upgrade initiatives from preparation through post-change validation.
• Perform readiness checks, qualification activities, deployment preparation, and post-upgrade verification.
• Help develop rollout strategies that minimize operational risk and service disruption.
• Execute infrastructure changes using established change-management and operational procedures.
• Troubleshoot issues encountered during upgrades and coordinate remediation when necessary.
• Contribute to improving the repeatability and safety of large‑scale network changes.
• Operate and maintain a dedicated network lab and test environment.
• Validate network hardware, software versions, configurations, and operational procedures before production deployment.
• Reproduce and investigate network issues in controlled environments.
• Support technology evaluation and qualification activities.
• Develop test scenarios that improve confidence in infrastructure changes before production rollout.
• Use the lab environment to validate automation, deployment processes, and operational tooling.

Automation & Operational Improvement

• Identify repetitive, manual, or error‑prone network processes that can be improved.
• Develop scripts and tooling to streamline network lifecycle and operational workflows.
• Contribute to automation that improves consistency, scalability, and engineer productivity.
• Help standardize operational processes and reduce unnecessary manual intervention.
• Look for opportunities to turn one‑off solutions into repeatable engineering practices.

Collaboration & Technical Troubleshooting

• Work closely with network engineers, infrastructure teams, vendors, and other technical stakeholders.
• Investigate hardware, software, configuration, and platform‑related issues.
• Coordinate vendor escalations and drive issues toward resolution.
• Track technical defects, document findings, and communicate status and next steps.
• Participate in technical reviews and operational planning.
• Share knowledge and contribute to a strong engineering culture.

Documentation & Operational Excellence

• Create and maintain runbooks, procedures, technical documentation, and operational guides.
• Document lessons learned from upgrades, incidents, and infrastructure projects.
• Improve existing procedures based on real‑world operational experience.
• Help establish clear, repeatable standards for network lifecycle activities.
• Contribute to a culture of disciplined change management and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

• 4+ years of professional experience working in a production network environment.
• Hands‑on experience supporting enterprise or large‑scale network infrastructure.
• Experience working with one or more major networking platforms such as Juniper, Cisco, Arista, or comparable technologies.
• Strong understanding of fundamental networking concepts and protocols, including BGP, OSPF/IS‑IS, IPv4, and IPv6.
• Experience performing network changes, upgrades, maintenance activities, or production deployments.
• Ability to troubleshoot network issues methodically and independently.
• Experience working within structured change‑management and operational processes.
• Ability to coordinate technical issues with vendors and external support organizations.
• Strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to production infrastructure changes.
• Ability to work effectively in environments where reliability, documentation, and operational consistency matter.

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting network lifecycle or fleet‑wide upgrade programs.
• Experience qualifying new hardware or software platforms.
• Experience operating or building network lab environments.
• Python or similar scripting experience.
• Experience with network automation frameworks such as Ansible.
• Familiarity with infrastructure telemetry, monitoring, observability, alerting, or operational dashboards.
• Experience working with network configuration management or automation systems.
