The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is seeking an APS5 Remote Planner to support planning for participants in rural and remote Queensland communities. The role involves planning activities, handling complex inquiries, and engaging with diverse stakeholders to deliver outcome-based plans.
Based in Charleville, Longreach, Mount Isa or Weipa, you will travel to remote locations and contribute to NDIA’s objective of building a world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme.
Currently, there are around 5.5 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
QLD Service Delivery Branch is responsible for engaging with participants and managing participant plans and supports. Planning teams provide direct service delivery for NDIS participants; engaging with participants and managing participant plans and supports to ensure nationally consistent participant experiences aligned to the Participant Service Guarantee.
The APS5 Remote Planner will be required to undertake planning activities and tasks using available information where options are not always evident. The position will be required to perform procedural, clerical, administrative and operational tasks that supports and contributes to NDIA’s objectives to “build a world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme”.As the APS5 Remote Planner you will have a considerable level of contact with internal and external stakeholders and will be required to communicate with and provide advice on a range of service delivery matters to resolve moderately complex to complex enquiries for people. As the APS5 Remote Planner, you will be passionate about working in your local rural and remote communities to support people in the communities with their NDIS journey. You will be required to attend external locations offsite including participants' homes (which may have multiple stories or be accessible only via uneven ground, stairs). You will perform high levels of phone usage and/or face to face work. You must be comfortable driving a vehicle over possible long distances in remote locations on unsealed roads and in all traffic and weather conditions, including the capacity to deal with minor vehicle problem (e.g., changing a tyre). Travel via light aircraft may be required to access remote communities. You will require physical capacity and mobility to safely navigate uneven terrain, including unsealed roads, footpaths, steps and stairs, in a variety of weather conditions.

This role is required to be performed from Charleville, Longreach, Mount Isa and Weipa offices, alternate office locations or arrangements will not be considered.
Ongoing and non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
