TechTree is seeking an experienced Java Backend Engineer to join our international team building enterprise-grade platforms for the insurance sector. You will design and implement backend services in Java/Spring Boot, focusing on financial settlement, accounting, and claims modules, with RESTful APIs and external integrations.
We value strong backend fundamentals, willingness to grow toward full-stack, and collaboration in an Agile/SAFe environment.
You'll join an international team (Scandinavia / Belgium / Poland) building and developing proprietary, scalable Enterprise-class platforms for the global insurance sector. Our systems manage the full policy lifecycle and claims settlement processes end to end, handling millions of operations per month - including financial settlement, accounting, investment fund, and claims modules (FIN/FUN/CLAIMS).
AI on our team is an everyday engineering tool, not a marketing buzzword - we work in a Spec Driven Development paradigm: we use AI agents for technical documentation, task specification, building technical plans, and verifying and testing work.
We're looking for an experienced Java Backend Engineer (5+ years) with a strong backend foundation who is open to gradually learning and working with the frontend (Angular) - a deliberate choice by the client: a strong backend foundation plus a willingness to grow toward fullstack over time.
Design and develop backend services in Java (Spring Boot) for financial settlement, accounting, investment fund, and claims-handling modules
Build and maintain high-performance REST APIs and integrations with external service providers
Own architecture and code quality - Clean Code, design patterns, code review
Collaborate with the team (BA, QA, Frontend, Scrum Master) in Agile/Scrum/SAFe methodologies
Gradually get involved with the frontend (Angular/TypeScript) as project needs arise
5+ years of commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot
Openness to learning and working with Angular (TypeScript)
Practical knowledge of document databases (e.g. MongoDB) and relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle)
Architectural thinking - SOLID, Clean Code
English at B2 level or higher
Polish at A1/A2 level
Openness to AI-assisted programming in the Spec Driven Development model
Experience with Docker, ElasticSearch/Kibana
Understanding of insurance product specifics, claims settlement processes, or market regulations
Practical knowledge of DDD (Domain-Driven Design) or Event-Driven Architecture
Work model: initial onboarding period (up to 3 months) more often from the office, eventually hybrid - 3 days office / 2 days remote

B2B: paid leave (20-26 days, agreed with the Hiring Manager)
Private medical care with Allianz - for you and your family
Individual training and conference plan
Participation in international projects for the financial and insurance sector
Development path: expert (technical/business) or managerial
