N-iX is seeking a Middle Data Engineer for a 6-month engagement to act as the independent hands-on engineer and technical owner of data readiness. The role combines pipeline and query engineering with investigation of source, mapping, hierarchy, and validation issues; coordination of validation cycles; and delivery of technically ready datasets to downstream consumers.

Qualifications

• 5–6 years of professional engineering with independent production ownership.
• Proficiency in Python, PySpark, and SQL with complex transformations.
• Experience with ETL/ELT and batch pipelines across warehouses, APIs, and storage.
• Experience with a cloud data lake/lakehouse and data-quality controls.
• Git workflows, PRs, tests, and deployment controls.
• Ability to translate business data requirements into workflows and rules.
• Strong stakeholder-facing problem solving and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, test, deploy, and optimize ingestion and validation workflows.
• Develop and tune Python/PySpark, SQL queries, Databricks jobs, and pipelines.
• Own technical readiness for new cells and refreshes; review mappings and outputs.
• Investigate sources, taxonomy, hierarchy, and data issues across sources.
• Coordinate validation cycles with teams and providers; document evidence.
• Drive incident resolution across pipelines and access control.
• Review PRs and guide junior engineers without people-management duties.
• Maintain architecture docs, contracts, runbooks, and deployment procedures.
• Suggest automation and reliability improvements respecting standards.
