Job summary

SKF in Poznan, Poland, seeks a Metallographic Laboratory Specialist to support metallographic lab activities, ensuring high-quality sample prep, testing, and documentation. You will collaborate with Quality and EHS teams, production, and suppliers to meet SKF standards and industry requirements.

Your work will contribute to product quality, process development, and continuous improvement across SKF’s manufacturing operations. This local, permanent role reports to the Laboratory Manager in Poznan.

Qualifications

• Higher technical education in materials or mechanical engineering.
• Experience in metallographic or laboratory roles.
• Communicative English, spoken and written.
• Good command of MS Office tools.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, SKF requirements.
• Understanding of production processes relevant to the organization.
• Ability to prepare and present reports; develop procedures and work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Sample preparation for metallographic examinations.
• Maintain sample identification systems — traceability.
• Examine supplier components and production outputs incl. PPAP testing.
• Perform tests supporting process development.
• Document results in registers and prepare reports.
• Calibrate and check microscopes, X-ray devices, spectrometers, and tools.
• Coordinate orders for quality & EHS materials and services.
• Conduct CQI-9 audits per SKF requirements.
