Job summary

Luxoft in Poland is seeking an experienced desktop software engineer to join a cross-functional Scrum team. You will develop and refactor desktop frontends using C++/Qt/QML within a large framework, ensuring stability and high quality.

Requirements include a Master’s in Software Engineering and strong English communication. Regular Belgium travel is expected. The role offers growth in a multinational environment and exposure to enterprise-grade software projects.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of desktop app development with C++ and Qt/QML.
• Proven track record building user-facing frontends within large frameworks.
• Strong C++/Qt/QML desktop GUI knowledge (widgets, layouts, events).
• Experience with multi-window UIs and data models.
• OpenGL/Vulkan knowledge is a plus.
• Excellent communication and ability to work independently.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Regular business trips to Belgium expected.

Responsibilities

• Work with Scrum team on a project within the client’s software suite.
• Participate in Scrum planning and analyze work.
• Implement new functionality or code refactors per specs and mockups.
• Collaborate with other developers and a UX analyst.
• Discuss technical design with senior team members as needed.
• Write unit tests for new functionality.
• Participate in code reviews.
• Report progress daily.
• Focus on bug fixing when needed.
• Travel regularly to Belgium for 1 week every 1.5–2 months.

Project Description

Our client is a large international enterprise developing and maintaining a clinical-focused Core solution as part of a broader software suite.

The project is centered around the continuous development and enhancement of a complex software platform built within an existing large framework, with a strong focus on stability, performance, and maintainability.

The role involves working as part of a cross-functional Scrum team, collaborating closely with software engineers, UX analysts, and senior team members to implement new functionality, improve existing components, and ensure reliable operation of the solution.

Responsibilities

• Work together with other Scrum team members on a project within the client's software suite
• Participate in Scrum planning sessions by analyzing the work to be done
• Implement new functionality or code refactors based on detailed specifications and mock-ups
• Closely work together with other development team members and a UX analyst
• Discuss technical design with senior team members when needed
• Participate in writing unit tests for newly developed functionality
• Participate in performing code reviews
• Report work progress on a daily basis
• Focus on bug fixing when needed
• Regular business trips to Belgium for 1 week every 1.5-2 months

Mandatory Skills Description

• Master degree in Software Engineering, or equivalent through experience
• Minimum 3 years of experience developing desktop applications with C++ and Qt/QML (preferably not embedded or automotive only)
• Proven track record of building user-facing desktop frontends within large, complex frameworks (enterprise or widely used commercial software)
• Strong knowledge of C++ and Qt/QML for desktop GUI development (widgets, layouts, event handling, data binding)
• Experience with desktop application workflows (multi-window UIs, dialogs, data models, user interactions)
• Knowledge of 3D rendering (OpenGL, Vulkan, …) is a plus, but frontend Qt/QML experience is the priority
• Open and good communicator
• Ability to work independently and know when to raise or discuss challenges or identified issues
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)
• Regular business trips to Belgium are expected
