Job summary

Hometown Urgent Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians and ensure patient safety and comfort. You will handle history taking, vital signs, basic testing, phlebotomy, injections, and documentation within a fast-paced clinic.

Responsibilities include coordinating records, scheduling referrals, maintaining equipment and sterile technique, HIPAA compliance, and assisting with exams. Prior clinic experience and CPR certification preferred.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years experience in a physician practice or clinic setting preferred.
• Basic computer skills, including Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Ability to function independently with sound clinical and professional judgment.
• CPR certification (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Take patient history and obtain vital signs.
• Perform basic testing such as vision, hearing, urine drug screens, EKGs, and pulmonary function tests.
• Perform phlebotomy for lab samples and document results.
• Administer injections and complete associated paperwork per policy.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (strep, flu, glucose, pregnancy tests, urinalysis).
• Dispense and document medications and other treatments.
• Ensure sterile technique and proper instrument sterilization.
• Coordinate records and referrals; educate patients.
• Assist with exams and procedures and maintain patient flow.
