Job summary

Amer Sports in Kraków is seeking a Master Data Team Leader to lead the daily operations of the master data team, ensuring timely creation, maintenance, and deactivation of master data records across key objects.

You will lead, coach, and develop a team, manage performance against KPIs/SLAs, and drive data governance and automation initiatives with IT and global business units.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in master data, finance operations, or shared services, including 1-2 years leading or coordinating a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • Good working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP ECC, SAP S/4) and master data objects and processes.
  • Proven people management or team coordination skills in an operational environment.
  • Strong KPI/SLA orientation and experience with operational reporting and dashboards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the master data team, ensuring timely and accurate creation, maintenance, and deactivation of master data records.
  • Ensure requests are processed in line with SLAs, quality standards, and internal control requirements.
  • Organize and prioritize the team's daily workload, managing volumes, backlogs, and peak periods.
  • Act as first point of escalation for operational issues and coordinate resolutions with stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of master data specialists; conduct regular 1:1s and performance reviews.
  • Set clear objectives aligned with KPIs and monitor progress; address underperformance.
  • Manage the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, development, and retention.
  • Manage capacity planning, holiday coverage, and cross-training to ensure business continuity.
  • Recognize and reward performance; build an engaged team culture.
  • Handle team administration and ensure compliance with policies and code of conduct.
  • Run daily huddles and team meetings; maintain visual management boards and gather feedback.
  • Define, track, and report operational KPIs; present dashboards and reviews to stakeholders.
  • Identify manual activities and drive their simplification or automation; lead improvement initiatives.

We’re looking for Master Data Team Leader for Amer Sports office in Kraków

As part of the newly established Master Data team, the Master Data Team Leader is responsible for the daily operations and performance of the master data team. The role focuses on leading and developing people, ensuring service delivery in line with agreed KPIs and SLAs, safeguarding data quality in day-to-day execution, and continuously seeking improvements and automation opportunities in manual activities.

What you will be doing:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the master data team, ensuring timely and accurate creation, maintenance, and deactivation of master data records (e.g., chart of accounts, cost centers, vendor and customer data, fixed assets, retail stores).
  • Ensure requests are processed in line with agreed SLAs, quality standards, and internal control requirements.
  • Organize and prioritize the team's daily workload, managing volumes, backlogs, and peak periods (e.g., month-end and year-end close).
  • Act as first point of escalation for operational issues and coordinate their resolution with stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of master data specialists; conduct regular 1:1s, feedback sessions, and annual/mid-year performance reviews.
  • Set clear individual objectives aligned with team KPIs and monitor progress throughout the year, address underperformance in line with company processes.
  • Manage the full employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, development, career pathing, succession planning, and retention; monitor and act on attrition and engagement results.
  • Manage capacity planning, work allocation, holiday/absence coverage, and cross-training to ensure business continuity.
  • Recognize and reward performance; build an engaged, collaborative team culture.
  • Handle team administration: approval of timesheets, absences, and overtime, and ensure team compliance with company policies and the code of conduct.

Team routines & daily management

  • Run daily huddles and regular team meetings; maintain visual management boards (workload, KPIs, issues) to steer daily performance.
  • Cascade organizational communications and changes to the team and gather feedback upward.

KPI & performance management

  • Define, track, and report operational KPIs (e.g., turnaround time, data quality/accuracy rate, request volumes, SLA compliance, first-time-right).
  • Prepare and present regular performance dashboards and operational reviews for the stakeholders.
  • Analyze KPI trends and root causes of errors or delays and implement corrective actions.
  • Proactively identify manual, repetitive, and error-prone activities within master data processes and drive their simplification, standardization, or automation.
  • Lead or support improvement initiatives (e.g., workflow tools, RPA, mass-upload solutions, validation rules) from idea through implementation.
  • Measure and report efficiency gains from improvement initiatives (time saved, error reduction).
  • Collaborate with IT, process owners, and global business units on system enhancements and testing (e.g., SAP, OneStream, Ariba).
  • Promote a continuous improvement mindset within the team.

Knowledge management & business continuity

  • Own and keep up to date all process documentation in cooperation with MDM Expert (SOPs/DTPs, work instructions, process maps).
  • Maintain the team's skills/training matrix and ensure cross-training coverage for all critical activities.
  • Develop and test the team's business continuity plan (BCP).
  • Act as the operational point of contact for local finance teams, business units, and other GBS towers; hold regular service review calls.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and complaints; ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing evidence of controls, process documentation, and data quality checks.

Transitions & projects

  • Support migrations/transitions of new master data activities into the team, including knowledge transfer, documentation, and stabilization.
  • Represent the team in projects (system implementations, process changes, organizational initiatives) and coordinate testing efforts (e.g., UAT).
What you need to succeed:

Skills and Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in master data, finance operations, or shared services, including at least 1-2 years of experience leading or coordinating a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Good working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP ECC, SAP S/4) and master data objects and processes.
  • Proven people management or team coordination skills in an operational environment (SSC/GBS experience is an advantage).
  • Strong KPI/SLA orientation and experience with operational reporting and dashboards (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
  • Demonstrated track record in process improvement and automation of manual activities (Lean, RPA, workflow tools).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; fluent English.
  • Understanding of internal controls, data quality, and audit requirements.
  • People leadership: motivating, coaching, and developing others; giving constructive feedback.
  • Decision-making and problem-solving under time pressure; sound prioritization.
  • Conflict resolution and resilience in a high-volume operational environment.
