Job summary

HSBC seeks an experienced z/OS mainframe specialist to join a technical team supporting a large-scale IBM mainframe environment. You will configure, maintain, and secure mainframe network components and subsystems, participating in a 24x7 on-call support rota.

Ideal candidates will have deep knowledge of z/OS networking, Connect:Direct/FTP, and IPsec/TLS/SSL certificates, with a proven track record in incident resolution, change control, and working across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience supporting the z/OS mainframe network environment and z/OS systems programming.
• Knowledge of z/OS and z/OS utilities.
• Understanding of z/OS networking services structure related software and protocols.
• Experience administering file transmission products such as Connect:Direct and FTP or strong experience as a user of these products.
• Understanding of network security disciplines including IPSec TLS and SSL and certificates and how they relate to file transmission.
• Experience in problem management from initial diagnosis through to resolution.
• Understanding of the Change Management process.
• Knowledge of mainframe network management tools such as NetMaster and multi-session manager products such as TUBES and Supersession.

Responsibilities

• Support IBM mainframe networks and transmissions products and infrastructure as part of a multi-functional team.
• Participate in a 24x7 support rota.
• Perform VTAM updates and related tasks (VTAM PU/LU, Enterprise Extenders).
• Manage OSA adapters in a complex mainframe environment including OSA-Express network cards.
• Implement AT-TLS rules and configure IPSEC policies and VPN IPsec tunnels.
• Carry out trace, debug and error analysis and manage problems from initial diagnosis through to resolution.
• Communicate with technical applications and operational teams to ensure network connectivity and security, including after hours.

In this role you will be joining a team of technical professionals supporting a large-scale z/OS systems platform. You will configure and maintain the integrity and data and IP security of the mainframe host communications subsystems and associated program products. The role sits within a multi-functional team supporting IBM mainframe networks and transmissions products and includes participation in a 24x7 support rota.

What You'll Do

• Support IBM mainframe networks and transmissions products and infrastructure as part of a multi-functional team.
• Participate in a support rota providing 24x7 cover.
• Perform TCPIP port reserves additions deletions and changes and complete VTAM updates additions deletions and changes.
• Manage OSA adapters in a complex mainframe environment including OSA-Express network cards.
• Perform VTAM PU and LU updates additions deletions and changes including Enterprise Extenders EE.
• Implement AT-TLS rules including digital certificate management and configure IPSEC policies such as permit and deny rules and VPN ipsec tunnels.
• Carry out trace debug and error analysis and manage problems from initial diagnosis through to resolution.
• Communicate with technical applications and operational teams to ensure network connectivity and security including some after hours and weekend work.

The pay range for this role is 16 658 PLN - 24 983 PLN (monthly, gross).

Variable pay is discretionary, but influenced by Group performance, business/function performance and individual performance.
