Job summary

Kingfisher plc is looking for a software development leader in Kraków to drive the design and delivery of scalable software solutions. The role involves close collaboration with product managers and stakeholders to ensure alignment with business needs.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable software solutions.
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver business value.
  • Provide technical leadership and support key architectural and technology decisions.
  • Contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation to deployment and ongoing support.
  • Ensure high standards of code quality, reliability, performance, and security through engineering best practices.
  • Support modern development processes, including continuous integration, automated testing, and continuous delivery.
  • Mentor and support other engineers, encouraging collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
  • Drive continuous improvement of systems, processes, and engineering practices across the team.
Qualifications
  • Extensive hands‑on experience developing backend applications using Java and Kotlin.
  • Proven experience designing and building scalable, maintainable, and high‑performing software solutions, including distributed systems and microservices architectures.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, engineering best practices, and modern design patterns.
  • Experience working with AWS and cloud‑native technologies.
  • Familiarity with Kafka.
  • Familiarity with event‑driven architecture and REST.
  • Solid knowledge of modern software development practices, including automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions, make architectural decisions, and provide guidance on complex engineering challenges.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and supporting the technical growth of team members.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills, with experience working in Agile, cross‑functional teams.
  • A pragmatic approach to software engineering, balancing technical excellence with business needs and delivery goals.
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
