About the role
We are looking for a Senior FinOps Engineer to support and lead cloud cost management, optimisation, and reporting initiatives across our engineering platforms and cloud environments. You will work closely with Engineering, Product, Finance, and Procurement teams to improve cost visibility, forecasting, and operational efficiency across the organization.
In this role, you will help drive cloud cost optimisation activities, analyse cloud usage and spend, and support teams in making data-driven decisions. You will also contribute to the development of dashboards, KPIs, forecasting models, and reporting solutions that provide clear insights into cloud consumption and financial performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of cost and forecasting models to provide clear insights into current and future cloud spend.
- Work closely with Engineering and Product teams to accurately allocate cloud costs across teams, products, and platforms, support forecasting activities, and identify key cost drivers.
- Partner with Engineering teams to ensure effective tagging and alerting strategies are implemented to improve cost visibility, governance, and management of deviations from planned spend.
- Identify relevant data sources contributing to total cost of ownership calculations and support the design and implementation of solutions incorporating this data into reporting and analysis processes.
- Drive cloud cost optimisation initiatives by recommending reserved instances and savings plans, identifying rightsizing opportunities, and reducing unnecessary spend across cloud environments.
- Develop requirements for, build, maintain, and continuously improve real-time cloud cost dashboards, forecasting tools, and monthly reporting solutions.
- Own and maintain Cloud Cost KPIs, scorecards, and standard reporting metrics across the organization.
- Create and deliver dashboards and data visualisations that provide clear insights into cloud usage, consumption trends, and financial performance.
Qualifications
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across Engineering, Product, Finance, Procurement, and wider business teams.
- Proven experience performing detailed cloud cost analysis and developing custom reporting solutions and dashboards, including Power BI reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify, recommend, and drive cloud cost optimisation initiatives.
- Solid understanding of working with large datasets, analysing cloud usage data, and database queries to support data‑driven decision‑making.
- Strong knowledge of Public Cloud platforms and services, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, as well as DevSecOps practices such as CI/CD and automation.
- Ability to communicate complex technical and financial information clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in fast‑paced and collaborative engineering environments with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
