Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Lead Data Software Engineer (Java) to drive architecture for the Investment Banking digital operations platform. You will own design, ensure robust, scalable solutions, and balance hands-on coding with strategic oversight.

You’ll lead Java engineers, work with Python and Spark, and shape patterns across data streaming, real-time and batch processing in a cloud context. Hybrid work in Poland is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS or related field.
• 5+ years building Java backend systems and integrations.
• At least 1 year in a leadership role within an agile team.
• Proficiency in Python and Apache Spark.
• Experience with distributed, event-driven architectures and APIs.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end solution architecture for the strategic platform.
• Translate requirements into high- and low-level designs and patterns.
• Provide technical leadership to Java developers in the pod.
• Develop key platform components in Java with architectural focus.
• Collaborate in sprints to deliver secure, performant, observable systems.
• Guide stakeholders and align delivered features with goals.
• Contribute to the technical roadmap and standardization efforts.
