About the Role: We are looking for a Business Intelligence Developer to join our Self-Service Analytics team.
In this role, you will support, implement, test, document, and maintain self-service business intelligence solutions, including analytics, visualization, and reporting technologies.
You will play a key role in enabling business users to leverage Tableau and Power BI effectively while expanding your expertise in data warehousing and modern data technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Business Intelligence & Analytics Support
- Support and enable the business intelligence and analytics user community.
- Troubleshoot BI-related issues and respond to user inquiries.
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements and user pain points.
- Assist in delivering training sessions and promoting BI best practices.
- Help users adopt and optimize Tableau and Power BI solutions.
Platform Administration & Governance
- Manage Tableau and Power BI user access, permissions, and licensing.
- Support the administration of Tableau Server and Power BI Service environments.
- Assist with solution deployment, governance, performance tuning, and ongoing maintenance.
- Ensure adherence to established standards, processes, and procedures.
Documentation & Process Improvement
- Develop and maintain knowledge base content, including FAQs and error catalogs.
- Document processes, technical procedures, and support materials.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to reduce operational support efforts.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Self-Service Analytics Center of Excellence (SSACOE).
Collaboration
- Partner with BI Leads, analysts, and stakeholders to support analytics initiatives.
- Collaborate with SSACOE team members on projects aligned with the organization's self-service analytics strategy.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Experience with Kimball dimensional data modeling methodologies.
- 1+ years of experience working with:
- Semantic layers
- Data cubes and extracts
- Scheduling technologies
- Analytics, visualization, and reporting tools
- Strong interest in developing data analysis and analytics capabilities.
Technical Skills
- Experience with Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server.
- Experience with Microsoft Power BI and Power BI Service.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with databases such as:
- Snowflake
- Vertica
- Oracle
- SQL Server
- Other relational database platforms
- Understanding of BI architecture, reporting, and visualization best practices.
Soft Skills
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and build consensus.
Education
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or a related field.
Technical Skills
- Python programming experience.
- Experience using Tableau and Power BI APIs.
- Exposure to data warehouse, big data, and cloud analytics technologies.
