Job summary

Bayer, Digital Hub Warsaw, seeks a Lead Data Architect for Marketing & Sales to guide analytics projects and build scalable data assets and products. You will partner with data scientists, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure robust data pipelines and governance.

Ideal candidates have extensive data architecture experience, strong Azure expertise (Databricks, ADF, container services), and fluent English. Travel may be required in an international, dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/Master degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar subject.
• 8+ years' experience in data/analytics, 5+ years in commercial/marketing analytics.
• Excellent data architecture and data management skills (data quality).
• Proficiency with Azure Databricks, ADF, Azure Container Services and AI architectures (RAG, Langraph, Langchain); AzureML & Snowflake a plus.
• Deep knowledge of consumer and commercial data domains (activation, ecommerce, sell-out data).
• Experience leading external vendors or internal engineering teams.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical skills and business judgement.
• Fluent in English (written & spoken).
• Intercultural awareness and willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead analytic project implementations for consumer and customer data; ensure scalable data products for analytics use cases.
• Design and manage integration of diverse data sources and reusable data models/marts to meet business needs.
• Contribute to data management processes and develop scalable data pipelines with core architects.
• Lead Architecture Change Advisory Boards and coordinate with data scientists, analytics leads, and platform architects.
• Collaborate with global and regional stakeholders and IT teams to deliver value aligned with priorities.
• Guide external providers and internal teams as architect and lead engineer, estimate costs and timelines, ensure quality handover.
• Enrich cloud-based data and analytics technology stacks to support analytics products.

You will be part of the Data Assets, Analytics & AI organization and are responsible to technically guide projects in the area of core data assets and/or commercial analytics projects such as e.g. eCommerce Analytics. Your Tasks And Responsibilities

• Lead technical implementation analytic projects in the area of Consumer (e.g. Consumer Activation, eCommerce etc.) and /or Customer (CRM, Retailer business). Ensure providers or internal developer teams follow our best practices and design principles as a solid foundation to deliver fit-for purpose & scalable data products for analytics use cases.
• Design, lead and manage the integration of different data sources (e.g. macroeconomics data, consumer insights, Social media listening & unstructured data assets as well as sell-out, CRM and financial data etc.) and the design of reusable data models and/or marts in order to meet the business requirements
• Contribute to creation of data management and steer implementation of proper data management processes & solutions leveraging best practices and joint methodologies to be developed with core data asset architects (e.g. event-based data management).
• Initiate and prepare Architecture Change Advisory Boards and collaborate with other data architects, business functions, analytics leads, data science teams and platform architects in order to reuse data and ensure sustainable pipelines and analytical products are built.
• Collaborate with business functions (global & regional business stakeholders) and other IT teams (core data asset architects, analytics teams, data science teams, platform product managers & integration architects) to ensure delivery in line with value, business priorities and IT objectives.
• As a technical lead, steer external providers and internal implementation teams, guide them as architect and lead engineer, provide cost and time estimations, challenge vendor costs and assure quality delivery of vendor implementations & proper handover to support.
• Contribute to the enrichment of our key cloud‑based data & analytics technology stacks according to the needs of the analytics products in your area of responsibility

Who You Are

• Bachelor/Master degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar subject
• 8+ years' working experience in a data related area, 5+ years in the field of Data & Analytics, preferably in the area of Commercial/Marketing, e.g. eCommerce, CPG/FMCG industry
• Excellent data architecture & technology knowledge, data engineering & data management skills (e.g. data quality).
• Excellent Technology knowhow in Azure Databricks, ADF, Azure Container Services and architecture for AI applications (RAG, Langraph, Langchain etc.), nice to have: AzureML & Snowflake. Programming languages like SQL, Python, R and BI/reporting solutions like PowerBi/Tableau.
• Profound business and data content knowledge of respective business domain: consumer - & commercial (consumer activation, ecommerce, sell-out and pos data, sell-in data) and M&S process knowhow
• Experience in steering implementation teams from external vendors or internal engineers on a technical and organizational level.
• Problem solving and analytical skills, combined with impeccable business judgement.
• Interpersonal and communication skills, active listening, consulting, challenging, presentation skills, fluent in English (written & spoken)
• Intercultural awareness (Europe, US, India) and willingness to travel occasionally
