Job summary

Citi Solutions Center Poland seeks a Lead Cyber Security Engineer to drive scalable security architectures and cloud security initiatives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and high-quality security controls, including micro-segmentation with Illumio and VMware vDefend.

The role requires 5+ years in cybersecurity within a large enterprise, leadership experience, and strong scripting/automation skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, technology infrastructure, or IT engineering within a large-scale enterprise.
• Leadership in senior engineering roles driving large-scale programs or technology transformation.
• Hands-on experience with micro-segmentation and network segmentation technologies.
• Deep knowledge of cloud security, firewalls, and network segmentation.
• Understanding of industry-standard security frameworks and corporate compliance standards.
• Strong ownership mindset with ability to manage multiple projects under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience with Linux/Unix system administration is desirable.

Position Overview

As a Lead Cyber Security Engineer, you will drive the design, acquisition, and deployment of hardware, software, and network infrastructure in close coordination with the broader Technology team. Your primary objective is to ensure that existing and planned security frameworks meet the highest quality and compliance standards.

Cloud Technology Services (CTS) delivers integrated risk reduction capabilities aligned with our long-term architectural goals. In this role, you will define highly scalable, integrated security architectures, influence product roadmaps, and drive interoperability across a complex end-to-end network and cloud security ecosystem, always keeping the client experience at the forefront.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Collaboration:Partner with Transformation Program Directors, Senior Architects, Steering Committees, CISO, and CTI partners to successfully deliver complex, enterprise-wide transformational programs.
• Segmentation Engineering:Collaborate with Citi’s Cyber Security Lab, Architecture, and Engineering teams to design, deploy, and maintain robust VMWare vDefend Security Controls and micro-segmentation solutions.
• Governance & Relationship Management:Interface with and support Citi’s Security Architecture Council and Working Groups, building strong rapport and alignment across cross-functional teams.
• Digital Transformation:Support Citi’s adoption of the cloud continuum and holistic digital transformation initiatives.
• Automation & Scripting:Develop automation scripts (using Python, Shell, etc.) to streamline repetitive operational tasks, including software installations/upgrades, database patching, OS patching, and server provisioning.
• Project & Incident Management:Formulate comprehensive project plans, conduct thorough impact analyses, and troubleshoot high-impact, complex technical issues to ensure rapid service restoration.
• Process Optimization:Review technical requirement documents, define hardware specifications, and continuously evaluate and optimize engineering processes and procedures.
• Mentorship & Leadership:Provide technical and strategic guidance, acting as a mentor and coach to junior engineers while operating with high autonomy.
• Problem Management:Drive technical direction and strategic decision-making by designing, discussing, and implementing long-term solutions to prevent recurring issues.
• Risk & Compliance:Proactively assess risk during business decision-making, ensuring safeguarding of Citigroup's reputation, clients, and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and internal policies.

Qualifications

• Experience:5+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, technology infrastructure, or IT engineering within a large-scale enterprise.
• Leadership:Proven track record in leadership or senior engineering roles, successfully driving large-scale programs or technology transformation initiatives.
• Security & Segmentation Expertise:Hands-on experience with micro-segmentation and network segmentation technologies (e.g., Illumio, VMware vDefend, Zscaler, Palo Alto Networks).
• Technical Knowledge:Deep technical knowledge of cybersecurity solutions, focusing on cloud security, firewalls, and network/macro/micro-segmentation.
• Standards & Compliance:Thorough understanding of industry-standard security frameworks and corporate technology compliance standards.
• Execution & Ownership:Strong ownership mindset with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects under pressure in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
• Problem Solving:Advanced analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Communication:Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Systems Administration:Experience with Linux/Unix system administration is highly desirable.
• Network Services:Solid understanding of proxy functionalities, features, and network traffic management.
