Job summary

Autodesk Krakow is seeking a Principal Software Engineer (Backend/Full Stack) to shape Tandem—our next-generation cloud platform. You will lead architecture, design scalable services, mentor engineers, and contribute hands-on with Go/C++ backends and React frontends.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, platform strategy, and delivering reliable cloud services in a hybrid Krakow environment. Strong English and multi-team collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale software systems.
• Proven experience leading architecture and delivery of complex platform initiatives spanning multiple teams.
• Expertise in one or more modern languages such as Go, C++, TypeScript, Node.js, C#, Python, Java or similar (Go/C++ valued).
• Experience designing distributed systems, microservices, cloud-native apps and API design.
• Experience with AWS or Azure (cloud platform).
• Strong understanding of data architecture and database technologies.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and modern software delivery practices.
• Strong understanding of system design, scalability, reliability, security, and performance optimization.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable, resilient cloud-native services for high-volume workloads (backend focus).
• Contribute to technical vision and architecture for platform services.
• Establish engineering standards and practices for quality and maintainability.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture and Engineering leaders to align investments.
• Guide teams through complex technical challenges and mentor engineers.
• Lead design reviews and provide technical mentorship.
• Contribute hands-on to Go/C++ backends and React frontends; adapt to other tech.
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Champion observability, automation, reliability engineering, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in Agile planning and help teams improve delivery.
