Overview

We recently opened the Vestas Blades Process Engineering Factory in Goleniów, Poland, dedicated to advancing blade manufacturing processes, standardization, and production excellence across Vestas sites worldwide. This expansion will help us create an engineering division in Poland to enhance wind turbine blade manufacturing and establish new industry standards in quality and efficiency.

Operational support will actively support the factories and act as the connecting link between practical operations and the more technical departments for Layup in PE and R&D. Continuous improvements of manufacturing processes are a key responsibility of Technical Support. Materials qualifications are also part of Technical Support. There will be between 1-2 Operational Support Engineers per Manufacturing Processes team. The Lay-up department will consist of 10-16 highly educated engineers or equivalent, divided into 5 teams: Process, Tooling, Documentation, Operational Support and Training.

Responsibilities

As a Technical Support Engineer at Vestas, you will play a key role in improving the manufacturing processes for wind turbine blades. If you do not have a deep knolled withing composite materials and blades manufacturing, you will have high motivation to get it. Your improvements shall support process stability and capability to improve overall business performance; Safety Quality Delivery and Cost (SQDC)

  • Implement continuous improvement of Lay-up processes across manufacturing sites
  • Analyze current and future state processes, create improvement plans, and lead related projects
  • Prepare and manage Engineering Change Notices (CNs)
  • Act as case handler for critical escalations from factories to ensure fast problem resolution
  • Conduct material qualifications, including planning, testing, and documentation
  • Apply structured problem-solving methods (5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA) and quality tools such as SPC and Lean
  • Use digital tools and data analytics to enable data-driven decision making and performance improvement
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineer or alike
  • GB Six Sigma or Advance Manufacturing Process Analysis
  • 6–8 years of experience in similar roles within manufacturing engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in leading process improvement tasks and executing optimization/standardization.
  • Solidskills in analyzing manufacturing processes, including material performance.
  • Knowledge of material qualification and process specifications.
  • Experience working in a data-driven organization, utilizing structured problem-solving and improvement tools
  • Proficient technical, analytical, and operational competencies within composites, precision manufacturing, and continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of composite materials such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, and epoxy resins
  • Skill in process design and optimization for blade lay-up or manufacturing processes
  • Data-driven decision making, with experience using analytics tools
  • Proficiency with problem-solving and quality tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, FMEA, SPC, and Six Sigma
  • Self-motivated, result-oriented, and highly organized with effective collaboration skills
  • Willingness to work in a factory environment to understand processes and implement improvements
