Job summary

Hitachi Digital LLC is seeking a Junior Project Accountant to join the Finance team in Wrocław. You will manage project accounting, invoicing, and revenue recognition in a labor-based environment, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery under US GAAP.

You will collaborate with Delivery, Sales, and Finance to maintain data integrity, record monthly revenue, prepare journal entries, and drive process improvements with ERP systems and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, or related area (OTC preferred).
• Good understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
• Intermediate Excel skills.
• Strong English communication (verbal and written).
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• A collaborative approach across teams.

Responsibilities

• Own and support revenue cycle processes in line with US GAAP.
• Review contracts and POs for non-standard terms and set up projects, billing, and revenue recognition.
• Collaborate with management to ensure accuracy of customer and project data.
• Record monthly revenue recognition and related journal entries.
• Process customer invoices for Time & Materials, Fixed Price, and Cost Plus engagements.
• Manage month-end close and reconcile revenue-related accounts.
• Resolve billing queries with cross-functional teams.
• Analyze revenue trends for internal and external reporting.
• Partner with ERP and other departments to streamline processes.

Job Description

The Team

You will join our Finance team and work closely with colleagues across Delivery, Sales, Finance, and other functions. The team is responsible for supporting accurate and timely financial processes across customer projects, with a particular focus on project accounting, billing, and revenue recognition.

In this role, you will report to the Finance Manager and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy and integrity of project and customer financial data.

The Role

As a Junior Project Accountant, you will be responsible for managing project accounting activities, including project setup, customer invoicing, revenue recognition, and revenue-related month-end close activities. You will support a portfolio of customer projects in a labor-based environment, ensuring accurate and timely billing and compliance with US GAAP and internal policies.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

• Own and support key processes within the company’s revenue cycle, ensuring proper revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP and internal policies.
• Review new contracts and purchase orders for non-standard terms and conditions and ensure appropriate project setup, billing, and revenue recognition.
• Work closely with management to review client contracts and maintain the accuracy and integrity of customer and project data.
• Record monthly revenue recognition and prepare revenue-related journal entries, including revenue deferrals.
• Process customer invoices, ensuring that billable resources, hours, and rates are captured accurately and on time for Time and Materials, Fixed Price, and Cost Plus professional services engagements.
• Manage day-to-day revenue accounting activities, including month-end close, reconciliation of revenue-related accounts, deferred revenue analysis, and preparation of internal and external audit schedules.
• Partner with Delivery, Sales, Finance, and other teams to resolve customer billing queries and other project-related financial issues.
• Analyze revenue trends and support accurate management and external financial reporting.
• Develop a strong understanding of systems, transaction flows, and internal controls, identifying opportunities to improve process efficiency and effectiveness.
• Partner with the ERP team and other departments to streamline and automate accounting processes related to revenue recognition, invoicing, and customer management.

What You Will Bring

• 1+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, or a related area (preferably OTC area)
• Good understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
• Intermediate Excel skills.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• A collaborative approach and the ability to build effective working relationships across teams.
• A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to continuously improve processes.

Nice To Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business Management, or a related field.
• Previous experience with project accounting, revenue accounting, or billing, particularly in a labor-based or professional services environment.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams.
• Experience with Oracle ERP and/or Salesforce PSA.
