Job summary

Luxoft Poland is seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to drive complex engagements in the banking domain. You will join a hybrid team with 2–3 days in the office and focus on Java/JVM applications, Spring modernization, and secure, automated delivery pipelines.

You will lead remediation and modernization efforts, mentor engineers, collaborate with stakeholders across architecture, security, and operations, and ensure scalable, observable, and resilient solutions for critical business

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of complex engagements from assessment through implementation, rollout, stabilization and handover.
• Define solution approaches, remediation strategies, technical priorities and delivery plans across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Lead complex modernization, remediation and operational improvement initiatives.
• Assess codebases, runtime environments, deployment architectures, dependencies, security posture and operational risks.
• Personally implement critical code and configuration changes in high-impact areas.
• Drive technical decision-making and ensure engineering trade-offs are clearly communicated to stakeholders.
• Design and improve testing strategies, release automation and CI/CD architectures.
• Lead vulnerability remediation programs, dependency management initiatives and application modernization efforts.
• Define and establish engineering standards related to security, observability, resilience and maintainability.
• Guide modernization of Java, Spring and legacy enterprise applications.
• Lead technical workshops and communicate effectively with engineering, architecture, operations, security and client stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews and support capability development within client teams.
• Coordinate delivery activities while remaining actively involved in implementation work.

Project Description:

The project is focused on improving the security, release reliability, maintainability, and operational resilience of business-critical banking applications. Forward Deployed Engineers conduct targeted, hands‑on engagements with development teams facing challenges related to vulnerability remediation, automated testing, legacy technology, production stability, and release management.

The role combines software engineering, DevOps, SRE, test automation, application security, and legacy modernization. Approximately 70% of the work involves hands‑on coding and configuration across development, testing, deployment and production support activities.

The technical scope includes building automated test suites, remediating vulnerabilities, modernizing Java and Spring applications, improving CI/CD pipelines, containerizing applications, automating deployments, and implementing observability and resilience practices.

The Expert Forward Deployed Engineer is expected to lead complex technical engagements, define solution and remediation strategies, make critical technical decisions, coordinate implementation across multiple stakeholders, and provide technical leadership throughout delivery. The role remains strongly hands‑on while extending ownership to solution design, engineering standards, mentoring, and technical direction across entire domains or delivery streams.

Mandatory Skills Description:

The role requires deep hands‑on engineering expertise combined with technical leadership. Candidates are expected to remain actively involved in software delivery while leading complex initiatives, influencing technical decisions, collaborating with stakeholders and driving engineering excellence across teams. Expertise in Java/JVM technologies is essential, while TypeScript experience is valuable for selected projects.

Hard Skills:

• Java/JVM development with strong Spring ecosystem expertise; TypeScript experience is a plus
