Job summary

ForeFlight / Jeppesen ForeFlight is seeking an experienced iOS developer to join the iOS team. You will work on the EFB iOS apps for business aviation, applying Swift, Xcode, and Objective-C to build new features and maintain legacy code, serving pilots worldwide.

You will collaborate with colleagues globally, own features end-to-end, and work with test engineers to ensure air safety. The role offers hybrid working and pilot training opportunities within a leading digital aviation company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in software-related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience developing iOS apps using Swift and Xcode.
• Experience maintaining legacy code in Objective-C and modernizing it.

Would you like to build new features, implement and see them used by the pilots all over the world within the top selling Electronic Flight Bag application? Organizational context (we do try to avoid corporate blubber, but if you read that you will grasp a bit what we do).

Currently a part of Boeing working with digital aviation has been sold to Thoma Bravo, private equity investing company focused on software investments. Digital aviation solutions included Jeppesen and Foreflight companies being currently merged. The quality of Jeppesen data fuses with Foreflight software solutions to create a top software company in the digital aviation world.

About the role (more or less on point, rather more!)

As an IOS developer at Foreflight / Jeppesen Foreflight, you will join the teams working with the EFB iOS applications. The team is responsible for the business aviation segment, and they work on building new features as well as maintaining legacy code. Your tech stack will include swift, xcode and objective-c. EFB apps provide pilots from all over the world the capabilities that help plan their flights with all the information they need.

Typical tasks and responsibilities include

• Software development of the EFB app
• Maintenance and optimization of existing features
• Collaboration with colleagues from other departments
• Owning
• Proactively working with test engineers to ensure safety in the air

Who are you? (I mean... you know who you are! But below will help you understand who are we looking for)

In order to succeed in this role, you should be able to recognize yourself in at least some of the following:

• Educational background within the software field, e.g. software engineering, data, computer science
• Experience with developing apps for IOS (swift & xcode)
• Experience with maintaining legacy code (objective-c)
• A drive to make things happen and being the co-owner of the solution, you develop
• Used to working with others globally (communicative English = being able to collaborate and demo your work to global stakeholders) and see the value in sparring and information sharing
• You always try to understand the problems’ you solve and overall "why" context
• If you ever was passionate about an aviation - you got some bonus points straightaway!
