Job summary

Altimi, a technology acceleration partner based in Poland, seeks an experienced iOS Developer to own an existing secure remote-access client and drive Stage 2 development, integrating FreeRDP, a custom transport, and RDP sessions.

You will stabilize the current implementation, document key decisions, and deliver the iOS/iPadOS MVP with our development, backend, QA and security teams, without a major redesign of the FreeRDP engine.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4+ years of commercial iOS development experience.
• Strong proficiency with Swift and the iOS/iPadOS SDK.
• Practical knowledge of Keychain, LocalAuthentication and secure handling of keys, certificates and sensitive configuration.
• Ability to design and maintain state-driven provisioning, connection and recovery flows.

Responsibilities

• Take over, review and document the existing iOS codebase and current integration decisions.
• Continue development of the Stage 2 iOS/iPadOS MVP.
• Implement provisioning based on the InitString/custom URL flow.
• Integrate backend services, including configuration retrieval and mapping connection parameters to FreeRDP.
• Implement protected storage of configuration and certificate material using appropriate iOS platform mechanisms.
• Implement application access using a PIN and available Face ID or Touch ID.
• Support device-binding integration and device identifier hand-off to custom communication protocol.
• Implement reliable RDP session lifecycle handling, reconnect behaviour, background/foreground transitions and safe resource cleanup.
• Develop and maintain RDP-related UI functionality, including touch input, software and external keyboards, mouse support, orientation and scaling.
• Support bidirectional clipboard exchange for plain text and PNG/JPEG image content.
• Diagnose crashes, memory issues, threading problems and failures at native-library boundaries.
• Implement safe local diagnostics and structured logging using OSLog without exposing passwords, certificates or other sensitive data.
• Prepare stable builds for QA, UAT and controlled distribution.
• Collaborate with Android, backend, infrastructure, QA and security teams.
• Participate in technical estimation, risk analysis and documentation in Jira and Confluence.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced iOS Developer to take ownership of an existing secure remote-access client and continue its Stage 2 development.

The application integrates an iOS/iPadOS user interface and lifecycle management with FreeRDP, a custom transport layer and the custom library to establish authorized RDP sessions.

This is not a greenfield protocol project. The role involves taking over the current implementation, stabilizing it, documenting key technical decisions and delivering the agreed iOS/iPadOS MVP together with the existing development, backend, QA and security teams.

Development of the FreeRDP engine itself or a major redesign of custom is not expected.

Requirements

• Practical experience integrating mobile applications with backend APIs.
• Practical knowledge of Keychain, LocalAuthentication and secure handling of keys, certificates and sensitive configuration.
• Understanding of client certificates including common P12, PEM and DER formats.
• Ability to design and maintain state-driven provisioning, connection and recovery flows.
• Experience diagnosing crashes, memory-management issues, race conditions and performance problems using Xcode and Instruments.
• Strong diagnostic approach, including structured OSLog logging and analysis of multi-stage request and connection flows.
• Ability to take ownership of an existing codebase with partially evolving technical specifications.
• Good communication skills and willingness to document implementation decisions and known limitations.

Nice to have

• Experience with FreeRDP or another RDP client implementation.
• Strong Objective-C, Objective-C++ or C/C++ interoperability experience.
• Experience with device binding or device attestation.
• Familiarity with multi-session mobile applications and related lifecycle or performance constraints.
• Familiarity with TestFlight, CI/CD and controlled enterprise application distribution.
• Knowledge of Secure Enclave and secure key-management patterns.
