Job summary

Hitachi Energy USA INC is seeking a Transformer Diagnostics Specialist to develop and maintain diagnostic methodologies for power transformers. You will translate operational data into actionable information and support customers across the asset lifecycle to enable predictive maintenance and minimize downtime.

The role requires strong expertise in DGA and PD diagnostics, experience with transformer monitoring systems, and collaboration across engineering, product management, and service teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Strong expertise in DGA and PD diagnostics for power transformers.
• Experience in transformer condition assessment, transformer testing, asset management, monitoring, or diagnostics.
• Knowledge of transformer failure modes, insulation systems, and condition-based maintenance practices.
• Experience with transformer monitoring systems, sensor technologies, data analytics, AI/ML applications, or diagnostic algorithm development is a strong advantage.
• Familiarity with IEEE standards, IEC standards, and CIGRE standards related to transformer diagnostics and monitoring.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites, factories, conferences, and technical meetings.

Responsibilities

• Stay up to date with the latest technology solutions, standards, market trends, and customer requirements for transformer monitoring and diagnostics.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in DGA, PD diagnostics, and transformer condition assessment methodologies.
• Propose and develop novel monitoring, diagnostics, and asset health management solutions.
• Work with product management to define monitoring and diagnostic service roadmaps.
• Drive development, validation, and integration of diagnostic algorithms into software and digital platforms.
• Support design, evaluation, and application of transformer monitoring systems including online monitoring tech for DGA, PD, and other parameters.
• Prepare training materials and deliver technical training to service units, customers, and internal stakeholders.
• Participate in international standardization activities related to transformer diagnostics and monitoring.
• Provide deep technical support for root cause analyses and lessons learned.
