Description

This position requires training in the administrative building. (May take up to one year) Once fully trained, your schedule will consist of 3 at home workdays and 2 in office days. One of these at home shifts requires an 11a-7p once a week.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Below are the primary duties and essential functions of an employee in this position. While not all tasks may be performed by every employee in this role, all employees are expected to perform related tasks as needed. These essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Retrieve documentation according to established procedures.
  • Check all documentation and medical records for quality and completion prior to scanning.
  • Scan and index medical records and documentation into the electronic medical record.
  • Communicate with county offices regarding documentation, medical records, and release of information.
  • File loose documents in medical records.
  • Maintain and file archived paper records.
  • Assist Health Information Manager with purging and destroying records.
  • Provide customer service to requestors regarding Release of Information.
  • Release Protected Health Information appropriately following State, Federal, and HIPAA Regulations within specified timeframes.
  • Remain current on all State, Federal, and HIPAA Regulations.
  • Comply with HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations.
  • Assist with subpoena coordination between staff and courts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occupational Exposure Risk Classification: The normal work routine involves minimal exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
  • The normal work routine has a minimal ergonomic risk for repetitive motion impairment.
  • The position may require a minimal amount of physical exertion (bending, lifting, twisting) in the work area.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree
  • Experience: Prefer one (1) year of previous medical records experience.
  • Certificate or Professional License: RHIT Certification preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and active auto insurance coverage.
  • Satisfactory results from criminal and driving record background checks.
