Job summary

Global Payments in Warsaw is seeking a Head of European Core Processing to lead a large software team across Warsaw and Prague and to own two major European payment processing platforms. The role focuses on strategy, architecture, security, and delivery for core processing systems used across multiple European markets.

The position requires senior leadership, agile transformation, and close collaboration with joint ventures and global stakeholders to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements

Qualifications

• 20+ years’ experience in technology change management with 5+ years leading large software organizations.
• Experience scaling engineering teams across multiple locations in a global environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale, high-availability, low-latency technology platforms, ideally within payments or another highly regulated environment.
• Experience leading live, real-time platform migrations and complex transformation programmes involving senior stakeholders.
• Strong ability to translate business vision into deliverable software components, build strong engineering culture and partner effectively with senior technology and business leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a technology organization of approximately 250 software professionals across Warsaw and Prague, retaining, motivating and developing highly skilled teams.
• Define the technology strategy for European core payment processing platforms, ensuring they support Global Payments’ strategic business priorities in the coming years.
• Partner with Product to build a stable and predictable roadmap, while ensuring the engineering delivery model operates with quality, pace and strong throughput, as well as other members of the technology leadership team at a strategic level.
• Own a multi-year migration programme to move business-critical traffic from legacy systems to go-forward platforms across Europe.
• Act as the Senior Technology Partner and single point of contact for core payment processing in Europe, working with local joint ventures, senior business leaders and global technology stakeholders, to ensure all commercial, legal and financial targets are included in the technology strategy.

Make your mark at one of the biggest names in payments. We’re looking for a Head of European Core Processing to join our ever evolving Enterprise Engineering team within eService and help shape the future of global commerce.

The Head of European Core Processing is the overall leader for Global Payments core payment processing systems in Europe. Based in Warsaw, Poland, you will be accountable for two large scale payment processing applications located in Poland and Czechia, each processing millions of payments each day made across multiple countries in Europe. Responsibilities include strategic direction, architecture, security & compliance, software engineering, testing and delivery of these platforms and their components. This is a senior leadership position with a high degree of control and responsibility. The organisation contains ~250 team members located primarily in Warsaw and Prague.

The Head of European Core Processing will also own a multiyear, large scale migration program which will migrate business critical traffic from legacy systems to our go forward platforms. This is a highly complex program with multiple potential paths, a large team and high level stakeholders. This will pair with a continued drive towards agile working and a plan to maintain and retrain our existing team members in both sites.

This role will also require high level interactions with a number of boards of multiple joint ventures which Global Payments is a partner. This will be a direct business facing aspect to the role with regular direct interaction with senior technology stakeholders, senior global product stakeholders and business leaders across multiple regions

What you’ll own

• Own a multi-year migration programme to move business-critical traffic from legacy systems to go-forward platforms across Europe.
• Act as the Senior Technology Partner and single point of contact for core payment processing in Europe, working with local joint ventures, senior business leaders and global technology stakeholders, to ensure all commercial, legal and financial targets are included in the technology strategy

What you’ll bring

• 20+ years’ experience in technology change management, including business and commercial considerations, with 5+ years experience managing large software organizations
• Proven experience scaling large engineering teams across multiple locations and supporting business units in a global environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale, high-availability, low-latency technology platforms, ideally within payments or another highly regulated environment.
• Experience leading live, real-time platform migrations and complex transformation programmes involving senior stakeholders.
• Strong ability to translate business vision into deliverable software components, build strong engineering culture and partner effectively with senior technology and business leaders.

• Knowledge of the payments industry, cloud technologies and lean/agile practices.
