Alcon in Warsaw is seeking a GL Accountant (Sr. Associate I, Accounting & Reporting) to apply accounting principles, analyze financial information and prepare reports for assigned areas under the GL Manager at the AGS Warsaw center.

Responsibilities include IFRS/AMA compliant reporting, monthly balance sheet analyses, timely journal entries, and revenue recognition. You will collaborate with Finance and Regional Accounting teams and support process improvements.

Qualifications

• About 2 years of GL accounting experience.
• Experience with SAP.
• Experience with shared services is preferred.

• Ensure IFRS/AMA compliant accounting and reporting within deadlines.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet account analyses and reconciliations.
• Prepare accurate journal entries in a timely manner.
• Ensure revenue recognition follows IFRS/AMA requirements.
• Collaborate with Finance and Regional Accounting teams; communicate questions promptly.
• Analyze general ledger impacts from inter-department transactions.

The role of the GL accountant (Sr. Associate I, Accounting & Reporting) reports to the GL Manager in the AGS Warsaw center. The GL Accountant's primary responsibility is to apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Responsible for accounting requirements for assigned areas to be completed timely and accurately. Perform the respective analysis and follow up with the countries on issues, items to be resolved in relation with the General Ledger accounting.

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Drives proactively with functional areas to ensure accurate accounting and financial reporting is accomplished within prescribed deadlines and in accordance with IFRS / Alcon Manual of Accounting (AMA) and local legal requirements
• Prepare accurate and robust monthly balance sheet account analyses and reconciliations, including analyses for balance sheet reviews
• Prepare accurate journal entries in a timely manner
• Ensure the revenue recognition is in accordance with the IFRS / AMA requirements
• Collaborate proactively with key stakeholders, including Finance colleagues and Regional Financial Reporting and Accounting. Communication with these stakeholders is appropriate and timely when questions regarding accounting/reporting matters arise.
• Understand impacts to the general ledger for assigned areas due to other intra- and inter-departmental transactions and activity from other functional departments

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Degree in Accounting and/or Finance or equivalent experience
• About 2 years of relevant experience in GL area, SAP
• Experience working with shared services is preferred
• Very good command of English & Polish
• Ability to apply accounting practices
• Very good analytical skills
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work in strict deadlines
• Positive attitude with a focus on continuous process improvement
