Job summary

Agoda is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead one or more backend teams, shaping AI‑driven product and platform initiatives while maintaining high‑quality, scalable systems. You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and ensure delivery of mission‑critical services across pricing, inventory, and bookings.

You will balance hands-on coding with people leadership, promote CI/CD practices, and stay ahead of industry trends to accelerate engineering productivity and product

Qualifications

• Proficient in at least one programming language: Java, Scala, or C#.
• Strong experience in systems architecture for complex, scalable distributed systems.
• Demonstrable experience as a system owner with operational responsibility.
• Proficient in lower-level engineering: garbage collection, context switching, threading.
• DevOps culture – agility, leanness, automation, CI/CD.
• Good understanding of application security.
• Passionate about technology and the Internet.
• Experience working in an agile development team.
• Run engineering teams before with 5+ direct reports.
• Operate autonomously: making decisions, setting KPIs, with a strong sense of ownership.
• Practice data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Drive end-to-end execution of AI-focused product and platform initiatives.
• Be hands-on: write and review code and provide coaching.
• Stay current with industry trends and strong opinions on architecture, engineering, and maintenance.
• Do full-stack engineering across infrastructure, client-side, back end, performance, and data.
• Develop people and onboard top performers into the team.
