Job summary

Formamind sp. z o.o. is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable services using Django and Python.

You will build robust REST/GraphQL APIs for web and mobile clients, optimize database queries, and containerize apps for deployment with Docker and Kubernetes. You will lead CI/CD pipelines, mentor junior engineers, and participate in architectural discussions to drive architecture decisions for microservices.

Qualifications

• Holds a master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Speaks English at minimum advanced level.
• Polish language is optional but welcome.
• Has 5+ years of professional experience in backend development.
• Expert in Python and Django with deep framework knowledge.
• Comfortable on Linux servers (Ubuntu/CentOS) and command-line tooling.
• Designs and implements RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Production experience with Celery or similar queues.
• Works with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and optimizes complex queries.
• Builds, deploys, and monitors apps using Docker, Kubernetes or similar.
• Understands CI/CD best practices (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Writes comprehensive automated tests (unit, integration, E2E) using pytest.
• Follows Clean Code, SOLID and design patterns.
• Mentors junior developers and leads code reviews.
• Focuses on performance tuning, scalability and security hardening.
• Proposes and guides architecture decisions for microservices.

Responsibilities

• Is an expert in Python and Django, with a deep understanding of the framework internals
• Is comfortable working on Linux servers (Ubuntu/CentOS) and command-line tooling

• Has production experience with Celery (or similar task queues)
• Works confidently with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and knows how to optimize complex queries
• Builds, deploys, and monitors applications using Docker, Kubernetes, or comparable container/orchestration platforms
• Understands and applies CI/CD best practices (e.g. GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins)

• Follows and evangelizes Clean Code, SOLID, and design patterns
• Has a track record of mentoring junior developers and leading code reviews
