Job summary

GFT Poland is seeking an Expert Backend Engineer (Python/Java) with AI/ML skills to design and deliver production-grade AI and GenAI solutions. The role focuses on Python development, integration with Java ecosystems, and enterprise-grade security and governance.

You will work in a hybrid setup in Kraków, collaborating with architects and operations teams to ensure scalable, reliable deployments and robust CI/CD processes.

Qualifications

5+ years of professional software engineering experience with Python and/or Java.
Hands-on production experience delivering AI/GenAI solutions.
Experience with LLMs, RAG pipelines and agentic workflows.
Ability to design secure APIs and microservices in enterprise ecosystems.

Salary range: 17400-26700 PLN gross

What will you do?

You will design and develop production-grade AI and GenAI solutions built primarily in Python, contributing to a large-scale enterprise technology transformation. You will work on LLM-based capabilities, RAG solutions and agentic workflows, ensuring secure integration with an existing Java-based ecosystem. You will contribute to architecture discussions and help deliver scalable, secure and reliable AI solutions that meet enterprise standards.

Design and develop production-grade AI and GenAI solutions in Python
Build and integrate LLM-based applications, RAG pipelines and agentic workflows
Develop secure APIs, microservices and integration components
Integrate Python-based solutions with existing Java services and enterprise platforms
Evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs using measurable quality criteria
Apply human-in-the-loop controls, traceability and auditability practices
Contribute to solution design and architecture discussions
Develop unit, integration, contract and automated evaluation tests
Follow secure coding standards and AI governance requirements
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, quality gates and automated security checks
Implement logging, monitoring, metrics and tracing
Identify technical risks, dependencies and delivery blockers and propose mitigation approaches
Support releases, production readiness and incident resolution
Collaborate with architects, Tech Leads, QA, platform and operations teams
Contribute to engineering standards and continuous improvement initiatives
5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong expertise in Python
Hands‑on experience building and delivering AI and GenAI solutions in production environments
Practical knowledge of LLM capabilities, limitations and safe usage patterns
Strong experience designing and implementing RAG solutions
Experience with agentic or tool-using AI workflows
Experience with prompt engineering, evaluation and validation approaches
Knowledge of AI governance, security, traceability and auditability
Experience developing microservices and APIs
Previous commercial experience with Java and Java‑based enterprise systems
Ability to understand, review and occasionally modify Java code
Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or Oracle
Knowledge of schema design, transactional integrity and performance optimization
Strong unit, integration and contract testing practices
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and quality gates
Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
Knowledge of REST, messaging and event‑driven integration patterns
Ability to independently design and deliver complex technical solutions in enterprise environments
Strong understanding of secure software development and operational resilience
Experience participating in architecture reviews, design reviews and code reviews

Nice to have

Strong hands‑on Java and Spring Boot development experience
Experience delivering solutions in regulated financial services
Experience with Kubernetes, containers and service mesh technologies
Knowledge of modern observability tooling
