Job summary

GFT Poland is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build production-grade AI and GenAI solutions using Python and Java. You will contribute to a large-scale enterprise tech transformation, integrating with an existing Java ecosystem while enforcing strong security, testing and governance.

You will design LLM-based applications, RAG pipelines and agentic workflows, develop secure APIs and microservices, and work across teams including architects and QA to ensure delivery and reliability.

Qualifications

4+ years of professional software engineering experience in Python and Java.
Experience building AI/GenAI solutions and practical knowledge of LLM capabilities.
Experience designing and implementing RAG solutions and agentic AI workflows.
Knowledge of AI governance, security, traceability and auditability.
Experience with REST, microservices and API development.
Hands-on with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or Oracle.

What will you do?

You will build production-grade AI and GenAI solutions using Python, contributing to a large-scale enterprise technology transformation. You will work on LLM-based capabilities, RAG solutions, agentic workflows and integrations with an existing Java-based ecosystem while ensuring high standards of security, testing, governance and operational resilience.

Design and develop production-grade AI and GenAI solutions in Python
Build and integrate LLM-based applications, RAG pipelines and agentic workflows
Develop secure APIs, microservices and integration components
Integrate Python-based solutions with existing Java services and enterprise platforms
Evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs using measurable quality criteria
Apply human-in-the-loop controls, traceability and auditability
Contribute to technical design and architecture decisions
Develop unit, integration, contract and automated evaluation tests
Follow secure coding standards and AI governance requirements
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, quality gates and automated security checks
Implement logging, monitoring, metrics and tracing
Identify and resolve technical risks, dependencies and delivery blockersSupport releases, production readiness and incident response
Collaborate with architects, Tech Leads, QA, platform and operations teams
Contribute to engineering standards and continuous improvement
4+ years of professional software engineering experience in Python and Java
Hands-on experience building AI and GenAI solutions
Practical knowledge of LLM capabilities, limitations and safe usage patterns
Experience designing and implementing RAG solutions
Experience with agentic or tool-using AI workflows
Experience with prompt engineering, evaluation and validation approaches
Knowledge of AI governance, security, traceability and auditability
Experience developing microservices and APIs
Previous commercial experience with Java and Java-based enterprise systems
Ability to understand, review and occasionally modify Java code
Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or Oracle
Knowledge of schema design, transactional integrity and performance optimization
Strong unit, integration and contract testing practices
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and quality gates
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
Knowledge of REST, messaging and event-driven integration patterns
Experience making pragmatic technical decisions in complex enterprise environments
Strong understanding of secure software development and operational resilience

Nice to have

Previous strong hands-on Java and Spring Boot development experience
Experience delivering solutions in regulated financial services
Experience with Kubernetes, containers and service mesh technologies
Knowledge of modern observability tooling
Experience with performance engineering and resilience testing
Experience with prompt and model version management
