The Team & Opportunity

You’ll join a high-impact Video Collaboration engineering team focused on building next-generation solutions for modern meeting spaces — from small huddle rooms to large, globally connected conference environments. This is a fast-moving, highly collaborative group of engineers and designers passionate about delivering seamless, intuitive, and reliable video communication experiences at scale. We’re looking for an Expert Android Framework & API Engineer to design and implement Android framework features and system services that power high-performance video collaboration devices. This role operates primarily at the Android framework layer, working on APIs, middleware, and system services consumed by partner applications such as leading video conferencing platforms.

You’ll work closely with hardware, firmware, and QA teams to ensure smooth end-to-end device integration and exceptional performance.

What You’ll Do

• Design, implement, and maintain Android framework features and system services
• Build and optimise APIs and middleware enabling device capabilities and partner app integrations
• Collaborate with application teams to support partner app requirements via framework-level services
• Debug complex framework-level issues, analyse logs, and optimise system performance
• Work cross-functionally with hardware, firmware, and QA teams to ensure seamless device functionality
• Mentor engineers and provide guidance on Android framework best practices

Required Experience & Skills

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in Android framework development and system service design
• Strong proficiency in Java and Kotlin, including concurrency patterns (coroutines, flows)
• Experience with Android Services, Intents, AIDL, and IPC mechanisms
• Deep understanding of Android framework components such as
  ActivityManager, CameraManager, DisplayManager, and other system services
• Strong debugging, analytical, and performance-tuning skills at the framework level
• Some exposure to native layers (C/C++) is beneficial but not essential

Nice to Have

• Experience integrating with video/audio collaboration platforms (e.g. enterprise conferencing apps)
• Knowledge of Jetpack libraries and Android application lifecycle best practices
• Exposure to WebRTC or Chromium WebView integrations
