Job summary

Vonage is seeking a Software Engineering Lead to steer one of its engineering tribes within the Data Services group. The role blends people leadership with hands-on technical excellence, guiding architecture and coding standards while remaining actively involved in design and implementation.

You’ll mentor engineers, drive high‑quality delivery across the lifecycle, and collaborate with Product to shape the roadmap.

Qualifications

Proven experience in a technical leadership role (Tech Lead, Lead Engineer, or Engineering Manager).
Strong hands-on coding ability and production code review.
Experience balancing people leadership with technical contribution.
Product mindset with customer engagement and system demos.
Solid architecture and distributed systems design knowledge.
Experience working in Agile environments and modern delivery practices.

Responsibilities

Lead an engineering tribe of multiple squads with people and technical leadership.
Remain hands-on—contribute to code, design, and problem solving.
Own and drive architecture and system design decisions for data-intensive services.
Mentor engineers and foster a high-performance engineering culture.
Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery across the full software lifecycle.
Partner with Product to shape the roadmap and deliver customer value.
Act as a technical escalation point for complex challenges.
Improve engineering practices across the organisation.
