Job summary

E&C Group seeks an Energy Risk Manager to analyze global energy markets and advise clients on fixing and unfixing hedges. You will generate hedge ideas, decide on actions, and execute responses using our tools, while communicating market evolutions to clients and colleagues.

We provide internal training on energy and our processes; prior energy market experience is a plus. Strong organization and independent work style are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, energy, business management or similar.
• C1 level in English.
• Experience in the energy market is a plus; we provide full internal training on energy and our way of working upon arrival.
• A keen interest in the energy markets is key.

Responsibilities

• Daily analysis of global energy markets and implications for clients.
• Use ePoint system to generate hedge recommendations.
• Review and decide on recommendations to present to clients.
• Execute recommendations using hedge tools and generate client messages.
• Comment market evolutions and recommendations to clients and consultants.
• Assist clients with administrative execution of fix/unfix decisions when needed.
• Evaluate OTC price quotes and negotiate better prices with suppliers.
• Track activity in ePoint so Data Reporting Specialists can update client data.
• On low hedging days, perform fundamental energy market analysis for reports and content.

Job description

E&C advises a portfolio of large international companies on their risk management for buying electricity and natural gas. Every day, these customers have to take decisions on whether they will fix, not fix or unfix forward natural gas and electricity prices. E&C sets up a risk management strategy for these clients and gives pro-active advice on those hedging decisions. We are searching for an energy risk manager to enforce our team. The energy risk manager plays a key role in analysing the markets and giving advice to clients on fixing and unfixing decisions.

How does Enery Risk Manager work look like?

• Every day you will make an analysis of the global energy markets and assess what they mean for our clients
• Our ePoint system generates a list of possible hedge recommendations to clients
• You run through this list and decide whether to make the recommendations or not
• You execute these recommendations using our hedge recommendation tool that generates messages for clients
• You comment market evolutions and recommendations to clients and consultants
• For some clients, you will assist them in the administrative execution of their decisions to fix or unfix
• You assist clients that receive OTC price quotes to evaluate them and negotiate with suppliers to obtain better prices
• You track all your activity in our ePoint system so that our Data Reporting Specialists can collect and update a clients’ information in our system
• On days with low hedging activity, you will make fundamental analysis of energy markets that results in text material that can be used in market reports, white papers, blog articles, video’s, podcasts, etc.

What makes you a perfect match?

• You have a Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, energy, business management or similar
• C1 level in English
• Experience in the energy market is a plus but we are providing full internal training on energy and our way of working upon arrival
• A keen interest in the energy markets is key though!

• You are well organized, used to prioritize tasks in order of importance and urgency
• You take accountability for the ins and outs beyond your own role; you can work independently, set goals for yourself and others and give substance to them
