Job summary

• Handle the complete circuit design process for the Umbrel Home product line.
• Test and validate all electrical components and systems.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with software engineering to ensure seamless integration.
• Lead initial prototyping stages and troubleshoot designs.
• Work with suppliers to transition from prototyping to mass production.
• Document the design process and provide ongoing technical support.
• Identify improvements in electrical design and efficiency.

Job description

This role requires a deep experience in design, development and testing of hardware systems, particularly focused on motherboards/PCBs and circuitry.

In this role, you will:

• Handle the complete circuit design process including component selection, schematic capture, and PCB layout for the Umbrel Home product line.
• Test and validate all electrical components and systems to ensure quality, reliability and performance, including thermal testing.
• Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with our software engineering team to ensure that the electrical systems integrate seamlessly with umbrelOS.
• Lead the initial prototyping stages to troubleshoot, iterate, and refine designs.
• Work closely with our suppliers and manufacturers to prioritize tasks and facilitate the transition from prototyping to mass production.
• Document the design process and provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle.
• Identify and implement improvements in electrical design and system efficiency.
